ICSD, yep, it came a hellin' in here, too, about 30 minutes ago. Was on a chat screen with DISH, so irritated, can't get my DISH to work, then they said "can't help you until the weather clears up"! WHAT????? Are you serious, I need to have clear weather for my DISH to work? Right now, movie is on, and it's not synced with the voices. I hate that! And, keeps blurring so there is not a good signal still. And, why are some channels working, and others not? I do not have HD, so don't think it's the HD channels, which I don't even get! Grrr!!!! DISH is going to get an earful soon. I think my dish is not positioned right, I think the winds have moved it and THAT's why I'm not getting a good signal. But, do they listen to me? Nope. Bet they do soon if I keep having these problems, though. I don't sit back and wait, I take action.
Rain came and went in probably 15 minutes. Not sure how much, but when it came, it came hard and heavy, and sideways wind/rain! Tarzan the cat kept bugging me about wanting to go outside, and I had just finally told him to get OUT about 5 minutes before that storm came through. Poor guy! He's in the dog shed, I suspect, and I'm sure he's dry, but whining and whining was enough. Got tired of him sitting on the arm to my recliner. LOL Bet he wants to come back in now!

sunny and 70 until the rain moves in this evening.

Wish it stayed as rock colleen, our shale just dissolves then you have a pile of dirt with rock shards in it. So I call it hard dirt, shaped as a rock.

You can still use it here and there, works good in rock gardens, miniature gardens too. Can be placed over black weed cloth to hold weeds down too, plus gives a nice difference in texture between other rocks and wood chips. I think I can make use of just about any rock I can move. I made the tiny pea gravel left over from dirty sand bags look good too this year! Wonder how it would look lapping on the edges of a "sand bar", or mixed in sand bar? What are you going to do with it??

I have put a lot in rock gardens, around the upper edge of the pond, it is all dirt now. Not sure colleen, have a ton of it from digging the tank hole (propane tank)

We have to back fill it with stone dust, too hard on the tank to fill it with the rock filled dirt. So have piles of rocks and dirt to move somewhere................ I will use some of the shale where it is not as moist, it will last a year or so until it turns to mush. I need to move the mounds away from the hole so I can finish the dig. Love my tractor, but it does not have the reach that a big tractor has, so you pile up the dirt then need to move it to keep working on the hole.

Got 1.25" of rain last night, overflowed both ponds, but in a good way. They needed some "freshening up". Had to add to the goldfish pond yesterday morning, but only partly filled it. Good thing! 49 and sunny this morning, hoping next rain predicted for tonight and tomorrow will bypass us so horseback riding on Sat. won't be in total mud. Oh well, we will have a good time no matter what. Sister coming from WI, it's going to be a "sister weekend". Woohoo!!! Love my baby sister. :)

About your Dish reception issues. Your sat dish usese several transponders that receive signals from different satellites. When you do not have reception on certain channels due to weather it is because "somewhere" between the sat and ground receivers there is weather patterns that essentially block that sat's signals, hence some of your channels cannot be acquired. Other channels may still be recived since they are transmitted from a different satellite and received on different transponders in your home setup. If you have a "Over The Air" antenna as a part of your Dish system you are able to receive local television signal through you're sat receiver during sat weather outage. May sound like a lot of bs but what I've written is true. Weather interference is a common although not necessarily frequent issue. Having weather interference does not necessarily mean your sat dish is misaligned. Of course, Dish tech support can certainly check that possible issue. Another of my hobbies is audio video. I belong to a great forum by the name of "DBSTalk" at http://www.dbstalk.com/. This forum is a great site for users of DISH, DIRECTV. You may want to check it out. Good luck.

CE like lou says, weather can affect your reception. We can tell when a heavy rain is coming from the west, the dtv goes out. Go into your menu options, work down to where the set up your dish is. At that point do a check signal reception. It will tell you how well your transponders are coming in. I do it off and on with dtv since our dish gets smacked with heavy winds, so far it has not gotten out of alignment.

If it is out of alignment, you can tweak it yourself, but you need to mark where it is currently, right left, up down and even the turn. So if you get all out of whack you can get it back to the way it was.

Think I'm glad I have cable t.v. Never had a dish well except to eat on but sure see a lot of people around here up on there roofs a lot. Sometimes we lose our cable if a windstorm or heavy snow knocks out our power but doesn't happen too often or too long anymore and they give you credit on your bill if it's out too long for each day. Just got dvr added to ours and boy that is good stuff..........how did we live so long w/ out it

We have direct TV and always lose reception if there is any wind or rain. Sucks but we know it happens. We received almost the same amount of rain as country got. Filled the pond to the top which it needed. I would love to have some of that rock also! When we did around here there is tons of rock but it isnt the nice flat stuff. It is small or even so dang large you have to dig around it to get it out.

Ours is at
Never had a dish well except to eat on but sure see a lot of people around here up on there roofs a lot.

Ours is at the end of our deck, I put it there after we built the new deck. We only lose it when it is raining cats and dogs, like 1 inch an hour type rain, downpour, ow we have no issues. It is all based on how well it is tuned in, but with rain it wipes out the sat signal, not for long, but we do lose it now and then. When we do, we know heavy rain is coming!
