Sissy, Praying the service man is at your house! We have electric heat and a gas fire place. The fireplace does throw off some heat, but not like a wood burning or ventless gas fireplace.

they finally got here after 2 calls saying he was on his way and it was a fuse and wires on the inside unit and the circuit board inside and outside and he said it was a miracle it did not catch fire before it all burned out .He has to turn everything over to lennox for an investigation.I keep it on my puter so it reminds me to change the filters .He also said humidity is to low in the house ,well first the microwave fire and now this what next ,He replaced everything and it took over 2 hours since it is a 2 stage heat pump .He does not know why the unit did not notify lennox and them about any alerts on the system

Wow Sissy, not good!! I'm glad they got your heat reinstated and there was no fire, but shouldn't have happened. Could you consider a wood insert for your wood burning fireplace, as they really throw off the heat!

Sissy, We decided to not go with a ventures as I'm afraid of carbon monoxide. The company that did our install, also didn't recommend it. I do think they are more effective for heat.

Our gas fire place has a small clip on the damper, so it remains open slightly, even we when close it.

I just don't want to bother hauling in wood and want something that will work when needed.I would have to go out and get it and that is not work i want .My neighbor has a pellet stove but he is not happen with it .Pellets are not cheap and there has been a shortage of them which drives the price up higher .My sister has a propane fire place and she loves it for those not so chilly nights that she does not need the heat pump ,

We have a ventless fireplace, run it in the winter to warm our whole house. We have the heat pump set down to around 60. We buried a 500 gallon propane tank.

We paid around 400 for it, years ago. Works great no co2 issues.

Love the heat from it, warms all around. Hate heap pump pretend heat.

I will have to put tank above ground as there are to many hoops to go into to get one buried .My sister wanted a buried one and with permits and tank and all the leak preventative stuff it would have cost over a thousand dollars for just the smaller one .I am thinking about putting it on the other side of the deck with a protective wall around it .Hunters here are not very smart .My neighbor years ago had his blown up by a hunter ,never caught the guy .WOW then they have really gone up in price addy .The ones I see are all over 900 dollars uninstalled .

Let me look I have seen them still around 400 but this is not a fireplace insert, this is a stand alone fireplace.

All we had to do was dig the hole, put in rock dust, they brought it out and set it in the hole, I buried it. The only inspection was the hook up.

I have friends with the ventless fireplaces and they really do a good job heating. Our one neighbor added a blower to theirs and he could heat the entire first floor with it.

Our ( not ventless ) does warm up the family room nicely, but not as much as if it was ventless.

@addy, do you have any humidity issues with the ventless?
