We are at 31% indoors, with the propane heater running since we got home.

We do the same - boil a pot of water when it gets too dry. We have a whole house humidifier but on really cold days it can't always keep up. Our smoke alarms are all wired in and when it gets too dry they all start beeping and it drives the dogs INSANE!

Really on the dryness doing that to the alarms @Lisak1 ? Did not know that would happen. Poor dogs and it drives me nuts when one smoke alarm beeps and then you have to hunt it down to find exactly which one it is! It will stop beeping and then start up again when you get tired of waiting for it to beep again and leave. I swear they are living beings and they are messin w/me!

Yup. We finally had to call the fire department one year to ask for help to figure out the problem. They clued us in that the static electricity caused by the dry air could set them off. Once we solved the mystery we never had another problem.

Got this video that was shot yesterday of the Frazer Canyon highway in BC Canada.... sure would not want to be stuck in that big mess! Get the Chains out!!!

I've driven the Fraser Canyon in conditions like that before.

My smoke alarms are wired in and never had that problem .I wonder if my air is drier because of there being a basement .When I had this heat pump put in I had no problem at first with dry air ,humidity was always fine .Now that has changed .I did have the duct work all sealed and inspected when the new heat pump was put in .I figured it was free so have it done at the same time .

Sunny here and nice at 36. I looked for your snow just now @addy1 and you got a bit but looks like it stopped now. I miss our snow. All is green again.
