The news down here is saying bad snow , maybe , starting Saturday maybe Sunday, might hit south of DC. We are now watching it carefully, Two different projections one staying north of DC, one heading south, storm coming from the north west.

She won't be happy, I know that she loves to walk on the beach, roll in the sand

Maybe hopefully you can get home before the snow hits @addy1
When home snow is good, when traveling, not so good. Love it otherwise.
Snow hanging around here, hasn't budged due to this cold streak we are having. 18f right now. Yes I am going for my walk but in a different area as hubby has to go to dentist so I will go down there. More citified but better than nothing.

It sounds like winter storm helena will be hitting the Carolina's Friday, Saturday. If we leave Saturday, we will be getting to that area either Saturday evening or spend the night south of there and drive through on Sunday. We break the trip up to two days now, 8-9 hours each day. 1057 miles. 15-16 hours Get on I95 drive for 900 plus miles on the same road lol.
It takes us 9 hours to the northern side of SC. Usually end up staying in SC or NC for the night.

Thanks @sissy I don't use that kind but good to know.

I love the sun we have been having lately due to our cold clear skies. The frigid temps I could do w/out but when temps rise the sun leaves and rain come back. 21f and pond is frozen all over but where the waterfall runs.

Tomorrow is going to be fun! Schools here releasing early, but I think that's wise. After the year the school buses had to turn around and take kids back to sleep at the school, I'm glad they are playing it safe. Weather folks where I am said it's a very similar set-up to the year that the snow fell on fairly warm roads and melted quickly to slush. Then evaporative cooling kicked in along with an influx of arctic air -- ICE. It was a mess. Took me 3 hours to go 3 miles. Husband was on the road 8 hours trying to get home - watching cars slide around.
But that one hit as a surprise. Hopefully since this one is expected, they will get a chance to treat the roads. Plus, Murphy's Law as it applies to weather says that if it's expected, it will probably fizzle out!
I have my 6 gallons of milk in the frig -- but that's how we always are on Thursday (grocery day.) We go through a LOT! :)

It is zero here right now. To everyone in the storms path, stay safe. I am used to snow and we have the snow removal equipment here in Wisconsin to clear the roads but the south is a different story.
My dad and stepmom live in Alabama. He works for Publix and the store was chaos even yesterday with people stocking up. We all kind of laugh about 2" of snow shutting things down as we barely sneeze at 2" here in Chicago... but it's no joke in the south. Last time they had a freezing rain event, semi trucks couldn't get up the hills near Birmingham.

And here in Chicago it is 4 degrees right now. Things slowly will be warming up after tomorrow--back to 30s and low 40s by next week.

We are in trouble, we must leave here, house is rented on Sunday, leaving tomorrow. The storm is hitting all along our route north. We thought of leaving today, but that puts us right in its path by the time we get to GA-NC. So it looks like we might be spending the weekend camped in a hotel on the road. We will not even try to drive if the weather hits like they are saying.

I95 is bad in good weather there is so much traffic.

Our neighbor is going to take Monday off to accept the corvette from the shipping company if we don't make it home by then.

61 here, they are saying get out your coats.
