That looks like obedience plant fishylove if it does not have small bristles on the stem, but is smooth. Mine is just starting to bloom, purple flowers.
I have found that any plant I put in the bog takes over, grows like weeds Sure filters nicely.

Yep tag by putting an @ in front and then type their online name

@Troutredds thank you, alot of the plants are thanks to addy :)
@addy1 they really do filter great, hey do you cut the lizard tail and obedient plant back in the fall? And do you think I should thin the bog out when I cut them back this fall or wait till spring? Or does it matter? Lol
In the center of the second picture up there, the red stemmed Thalia I got this year (Couple months ago) it grow sooo fast when I put it in the bog. It's at 7-8 feet tall and it bloomed once, have great hope for it next year :) beautiful plant.

Been very busy this past week. Just put a new roof on our house last weekend. Kept me busy feeding our helpers so no ponding. :)
Yesterday I really thinned out my lilies and fertilized again. I stirred up a lot of much so back to the quilt batting. Water looking better this am.

A couple of pics from the roof since ladders were up there.

Today I need to drain the filter and rinse out the media. The blue barrel you see in the above pic is how I top off the pond. Hose water into the barrel then treat with dechlorinator then pump into the pond. There is prob an easier way with less fuss but this is how I have been doing it. I had a small leak in the waterfall from moving some rocks so I had to add about 200 gal yesterday. Been doing aerial spraying like crazy around here lately and I did cover the pond with tarps while they did the fields nearest the pond so moved some rocks to hold the tarps. Thats when I ended up with a little leak.

and my two lavender plants have grown quite a bit this year. I gave my mom and grandma cuttings in spring and those have also grown into tiny plants. I think next year I'll try to grow a few more lavender plants that way.

Here's my fern corner.

and here's my bog. Most everything I planted has finally taken hold. I had to remove day lilies since they were dying, but everything else is doing good now and should spread nicely in time for next season.

and here's my Mexican sunflower plant. I knew it was going to be big, but its well over the 4'-6' it was supposed to be. I don't plan on regrowing these in the pond area next year, but I will keep them around since Hummingbirds like them.

What kind is the white with long fins? looks like a butterfly catfish~~ I see a fancy goldfish also that looks healthy.

Haha that's my butterfly koi female. She is my largest female and the one who spawned this year. I don't know if you have any butterfly koi, but I'm guessing you don't know that their barbels (whiskers) grow long just like their fins. Maybe that's why you thought she was a catfish. Catfish don't have scales so that is a good indicator that she is not a catfish as well. As for the fancy goldfish, I have three. One Oranda, one Moor, and one Ryukin. You can see the Oranda and Moor in this video, and yes, they are quite healthy :D

Both great thoughts... but I put it in hours before leaving. I'm relaxing at the beach with a cold beverage in hand. Worrying about my pond is not on the agenda for today!!

The feeder worked great... the problem was with the dummy that set it up. First of all, I overfed them. Second of all, I set it up over a shallow rock edge that was above water due to evaporation when I returned. So I ended up with a lot if rotting food in the skimmer net and a pile on the rock edge that was slowly falling in.

The ammonia was slightly elevated, but it's back to normal after cleaning it the skimmer net. The fish were all alive and well when I got back, so all is good!!

I thought my fellow ponders would appreciate this - since we all love rocks and filtration; today we had a yard of 6 to 8 inch river cobble delivered to place around the pond, stream etc... I also installed an additional filter behind our waterfall last weekend, to aid waste removal. My back is gonna pay for moving all those rocks to the back yard but it will be worth it. :)
