Apparently I never got a panorama of my pond in September, but here it is today. I started the process of cutting things down to prepare for the leaf net. I've still got more to cut down, but I'll have a couple weeks to finish up before the leaves start falling from the trees across my driveway.

Now I don't mind snakes (as long as I don't have too many:) BUT spiders?? As long as they stay outside I don't mind them but inside? No way I can co habitat...
I enjoy them but I do remove them very carefully to the great outdoors.
Spiders are our friends

I don't mind the dry bugs and creatures, it's the slimy ones that bother me, like slugs, but I still let them live. Now I do like fish and they are slimy but I'm not into holding them on my lap, just enjoy watching them

I should’ve done this long ago but today I finally added grow lights to supplement for the lack of sunlight my patio gets especially this time of year when the days are getting shorter and the already minimal sunlight becomes even less. Hopefully the plants will benefit from this. There are a number of dark spots underneath the water for the fish to hid to avoid stressing them.

I'll admit to being arachnophobic, so "tons" is not a happy image for me!
I do not let a spider ever touch me if possible. If I walk into a web freak out time. I don't mind seeing them but that is it. These were all different sized water spiders, just everywhere. I messed up their living space.

Snakes no biggy, have many times picked them up.

I'm with you there, walking into a web is the worst...snakes, mice, slugs, are all fine but anything that moves quickly with more than four legs freaks me out....I wonder where this instinct comes from? Could our ancestors way back in the stone age have a reason to have developed this reaction? I realize some people do not share this "arachnophobia" though....

Likely enough the instinctive reaction to spiders goes way back into our evolutionary past. One study that I recently read about, which examined innate fear reactions in babies, concluded that many innate fears probably developed a few million years ago. We can overcome the phobias, but it may take some doing!

I had an acute fear of spiders for most of my life, and still get a start if I see one on me. What's really funny is that my fear of spiders finally got sorted out completely by chance. I was once learning Talmud with my rabbi when I spotted a wolf spider making its way across the table on which we were studying. I started to say something, but the Rav also noticed it. Now, wolf spiders are large and have a painful bite, so I expected he'd use a broom or something and try to get it out the door. Instead, he took a piece of paper and put it down near the spider. "Here little sweetie, you just climb onboard and I'll take you some place safe! There you go, sweetie!" The spider climbed aboard and was escorted out the front door and into a flower pot.

Now, whenever I see a spider, I think "Well hello little sweetie!" and smile at the memory.
