Yes every plant pulled had spiders on it or jumping off, all sizes. Feel bad messing with their home, but I have a lot of non disturbed ponds plants etc they can settle back into."Tons" of water spiders??![]()
I'll admit to being arachnophobic, so "tons" is not a happy image for me!Yes every plant pulled had spiders on it or jumping off, all sizes. Feel bad messing with their home, but I have a lot of non disturbed ponds plants etc they can settle back into.
I do not let a spider ever touch me if possible. If I walk into a web freak out time. I don't mind seeing them but that is it. These were all different sized water spiders, just everywhere. I messed up their living space.I'll admit to being arachnophobic, so "tons" is not a happy image for me!
I'm with you there, walking into a web is the worst...snakes, mice, slugs, are all fine but anything that moves quickly with more than four legs freaks me out....I wonder where this instinct comes from? Could our ancestors way back in the stone age have a reason to have developed this reaction? I realize some people do not share this "arachnophobia" though....I do not let a spider ever touch me if possible. If I walk into a web freak out time. I don't mind seeing them but that is it. Snakes no biggy, have many times picked them up.
Likely enough the instinctive reaction to spiders goes way back into our evolutionary past. One study that I recently read about, which examined innate fear reactions in babies, concluded that many innate fears probably developed a few million years ago. We can overcome the phobias, but it may take some doing!I'm with you there, walking into a web is the worst...snakes, mice, slugs, are all fine but anything that moves quickly with more than four legs freaks me out....I wonder where this instinct comes from?
