As a storm chaser, I'd give anything to have been there. I have an unhealthy obsession with violent weather. Wind, hail, tornadoes, derechos, lightning, etc. Glad y'all are safe though! We had a big storm a couple days ago and a tornado touched down within a few miles of us. We were without power for over 48 hours and it was hot and humid - ugh ! Turned the hose jet on high every four hours to agitate pond's surface and add Prime. Also churned the pond with an empty bucket. Not fun in the middle of the night by the flash light on your phone
I told hubby if koi didn't survive, I was done...no more pond! We had a power outage some years back, but koi were small and didn't need as much O2. Power was restored this afternoon and all koi survived . Ironically this morning was our long awaited appointment for an estimate for a whole house generator!
One thing that might help in the future is one of those solar or battery powered air pumps like those used for livewells or stocktanks as an emergency aerator. Glad this had a happy ending. Koi are like family.
