Wow those snakes put a bit hurt on your population. Ever think about throwing in there some minnows that breed like rabits and will over winter but get to a decent size
The 1000 gallon pond is down to 5 fish from 25 plus, all home bread, some totally beautiful, black and white long fins etc. All gone.

The big pond, in just looking has loss a bunch, the herd is a lot smaller.

The trap is set in their favorite lets get caught area. Hoping none get in, I will leave it set for a few weeks before I believe snakes are gone. Just need to remove the fish and tads that swim into it. It is in my big pond. Then back to the hatchery to buy some more.

Was able to capture a night photo of one of the many grey tree-frogs that frequent my pond now. Small little fellas so it’s really hard to spot them, but easy to narrow in on their locations because they have such loud calls at night. Sounds like birds in the middle of the night.

We had a big storm a couple days ago and a tornado touched down within a few miles of us. We were without power for over 48 hours and it was hot and humid - ugh ! Turned the hose jet on high every four hours to agitate pond's surface and add Prime. Also churned the pond with an empty bucket. Not fun in the middle of the night by the flash light on your phone :(

I told hubby if koi didn't survive, I was done...no more pond! We had a power outage some years back, but koi were small and didn't need as much O2. Power was restored this afternoon and all koi survived . Ironically this morning was our long awaited appointment for an estimate for a whole house generator!

Glad your efforts paid off , i just found a solar pump with a battery backup with or without and the pump actually pushes 1500 gph

I did, i bought the version that does not come with a battery . i can pull a battery out of a truck if i ever need one. i'd imagine a car battery can run a solar pump half the night with a draw from a 1500 gph pump
