Here's the pond. Storms exited and the sky was fantastic.

We got high winds and only 0.01 inches of rain, it missed us totally. We really need some. Other places in MD had a lot of rain.

The image below is what my pond looks like just now. For the current image, day or night, click here:

Korat Web Cam

The pond is mostly hidden in the webcam shot by the garden plants. The stream starts in the lower left corner where you can see the elephant fountain, runs for about a meter and then turns left where it runs under the statue of the Hindu god Ganesh who is sporting a garland of Maragolds this morning. The stream then falls into the pond which is presided over by Shiva who has a garland of crown flowers. The laterite path, just to the right of center, leads from the patio to the pond.

Thanks, j.w! Very nice of you to say. Since starting in with koi after having gf for a few years, I've been honing the 'look' of the herd, finding out which pattern compliments and which does nothing. I have had some that have turned colors and basically wasted my money but I'm learning. I do have to stop though as unless they don't reach full size, I'll be past any sort of filtration limit! But since the ones I've had now for 4 years are only about 14-16", I don't think I'm going to have a lot of very large fish and it should work!

And it is nice to realize nothing can really get at the fish (nor us; as in mosquitoes) so a lot of the horror stories don't affect me. I can get envious of the open air ponds as you can do more with the layout but I still wouldn't trade all my advantages. Not yet, at least! Maybe next pond???

He is actually an unplanned offspring.
I had a major fish loss over a year ago. Only had 6 survivors. Replaced the water and put some little "peanuts" in my upper pond. The very next morning I saw a huge snake coming down from the pond. 2 out of 10 survived.
Added a 150 gallon stock tank and got some more "peanuts". They have really grown and will be going into the main pond within 2 months.
