What does your pond look like ... Today?

This beauty was sitting by the loop ponds. They are everywhere right now. This one was around 4 inches.

When I went down to the pond (1000 gl one) all I saw was a tail and a wide back. One huge snake was running from me. I think it bailed into the pond, it was gone in a hurry. Tan in color with a wide cream back. Thinking a garter snake, just not sure, it was fat! I am sure it is hunting the frogs and maybe some fish.

Bog Bean bloomed sometime in the past two hours!

I love Bog Bean flowers - so exotic looking. Mine bloomed a lot this year, but they're pretty much finished up now.

They are really pretty and so fragile looking! Mine bloomed this year, not as heavy in past years. But the marsh marigold did wonderful, tons of flowers and healthy.

I did prune the bog bean back a lot it was overtaking the deck pond.

I spent a couple of hours today taming my bog bean. I had a shelf area that I wanted to plant something new (had some Water Willow to tuck in!) but the first order of business was to rip out & tame the VERY overgrown bog bean.

Once it gets going it goes................. every spring after it blooms I do a cut back.

My cannibal bullfrog has been relocated. I'm so mad. It ate my blue shubunkin. Of all the plain fish I have, it had to eat the coolest one.

I should've relocated it after it ate the leopard frog. That's really why I'm mad. I had the chance to prevent it and waited too long. Oh well.

Now we'll see how long it takes to find it's way back.

Great shots of your bog-bean flowers. I'm growing Menyanthes for the first time this year. It was dormant in winter when I got, but has now put up many leaves... but no flowers. I'm thinking it won't bloom this year. Maybe it needs more winter chilling to flower?

Probably just not rooted enough yet. Mine didn't bloom the first year I had it. Had a few flower stalks last year, but a bunch this year. The flowers look great for a short time, but I personally love it for its growth habit. Looks really great in the pond and the frogs and damselflies love it.
