What does your pond look like ... Today?

I did. They are about 26 to 27 years old. Currently, there is about 50 GPM of spring water running through the ponds. I also have an aerator. No liner, just natural clay. They are strictly trout ponds, and I have raised trout to 12 pounds or so.

Nothing rare. There are Brook Trout in the upper pond, and Brown and Rainbow in the lower one. The upper pond is low on fish due to Osprey, other predators, and unusually warm water last year. I have 50 Brook Trout ordered for the upper pond, and 50 Rainbow for the lower one.

The ferns are popping out here. Mostly just sword ferns, so far. Ferns of any variety are always a favorite. Enjoy your spring!

I've only planted a couple of ferns. The vast majority of the ones we have growing around are wild volunteers that have just shown up. Most of them do stick to the edges of the forest & the slightly shadier spots, but I have a few that have grown in our south facing, steep hill garden that's comprised of mostly sandy soil in full blazing sun. Totally NOT where I'd think a fern would be happy, but I figure if they planted themselves there, they have no one else to blame. And they seem to do just fine wherever they sprout up. (shrug) I won't complain. I love them!

I bought ferns that should have made it, took some ferns from woods, no go, they all die. So gave up lol None have ever shown up
