I just found this photo of the first year with this pond. 2014. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my pond or the surrounding garden. Didn't really even know how to grow a garden at this point. It's funny to see this photo again. Shows how much has really changed compared to the photo I took today in my previous post.

A little twist to the go pro i let it float and record where ever it was pointing as it drifted around the pond.
Well, if I were a fish I would want to live in your pond...what a great chance to see what goes on under the surface. I just love all the rocks. You can actually see their colors and textures (my pond has so much clay that settles over everything) Your fish are all so different and beautiful. Thank you once again for giving us all such a wonderful view of the natural world.

I decided today would be a good day to do a video. Last week, I mentioned that it seemed like I had more algae on the surface than normal. Not two days later, the surface was just about algae-free, and it's been fine ever since.

6a is probably average winter, but I've seen it -24F here once in 30 years, and -10 to -15 at times

Thanks for taking the time to post this video JB, it brought my stress level down to a peaceful place. You have a beautiful pond. Water looks great.

Thanks! It's Stout Blue-eyed Grass. It's not a pond plant though. I grow it in the ground all around my pond. I've tried it in my bog and it's always died off in there.

Here is our first lily this year. Went with white as the other is a peachy-pink and yellow did not seem the right match.

Picked up four Creeping Jenny plants today along with a replacement Cardinal Flower that died over the winter. It was in the bog but wonder if I had it planted too deep, will try with the crown above the water by a couple inches.

Also picked up some elephant ears. Yes I know that are annual up this way but thought why not. Feet will be wet and I need to add another stone or two around it.

Good luck! My Cardinal flowers are all doing good. Hopefully yours will too. If it's big enough, you could try separating a small one off of it and planting it somewhere else, so you'd have an extra shot at keeping it around. That's what I did when I bought mine. Put the main plant in the bog and a small division outside of the bog that has formed into its own cluster. Luckily, both keep coming back.

Tks JB. Good idea spitting it up. Yesterday I took another look at the Cardinal Flower in the bog and ll and behold it’s growing now! Small but it’s growing so that is good news. The new one will definitely go just outside somewhere around the pond.
