This is one tough plant!

I planted two in the bog, thalia's and put one in a lowes bucket, full of holes, stuck in a shallow stream pond, like a foot deep, just a turn in the stream. The two in bog did not come back at least yet.

But the one that was stuck in a bucket, no water flow, no protection from the cold, may have really dried out, is growing! The red line.
So leaving it in the bucket. View attachment 129119
Love the thalia! I had the non-hardy version growing in my window box bogs several years ago. It got over 7 feet tall and bloomed. I cut it back in fall to bring in and ended up with a nasty contact dermatitis from handling the leaves. No more thalia for me. Don't know if the hardy plant has the same effect.

Thanks for the warning! Mine never got going last year, it was a late in the year gift. I will be aware of the contact dermatitis, I get a horrible case if I get near black eyed susan flowers. The only and only time both arms swollen to twice their size, sick for over a week.

It is a hardy, came from a pond 1/2 mile from our house. They do nothing to protect their plants over winter.

Place looks great Addy I love when lants grow and MINGLE
lol my entire yard is that way. I am a casual gardener and casual ponder. Sort of let things just grow. Then do a chop back when you can't want through the yard. I do kill off poison ivy and all the darn vines that just grow everywhere!

Some serious spawning happening today with the goldfish and koi.
Don't know how deep the water is in those pics but seeing how clear the fish look i take it the bog continues to do well. The pond is looking real nice!!

How many gph do you have on your pump ? do you push water any where else besides the waterfall?

Your pictures are always fantastic. That WAS some rain spell you had. We got a lot (charlottesville, va ) but not as much as you. I can’t believe how clear your water is after so much rain. Mine would have been a cloudy mess. Love your girl soaking up the rays..mine are sun seekers too:)

utoh, our rookery is about 10 miles west of us, but they fly over every day. I love watching the little ones. Yep hard on a pond.
