@cas what type of net do you have over your pond, it's not noticeable, which is nice. We had a visit today from a great blue heron ( it was huge ) so the net is on ! My net is a fine mesh one I originally got to catch small debris from a cedar tree over the pond.....which fell in a storm. Mine is a bit of an eye sore.

I use to use 1" mesh which really wasn't noticeable, but the maple seeds could get through. The last few years I have been using 3/4" mesh. It keeps most of the debris out of the pond. I ordered it from Webb's pond supply.

My above ground project starting to take shape, quite pleased with it considering it's been set up through lockdown. Hopefully it will do well through winter and I can start a bigger project next year

Thanks sissy I had to take my own advice as how to seal liner to rock and have water below. And the different ways to hide it that is by far the biggest disadvantage to using large boulders. The waterfall I had to jack up in order to get the liners to overlap. And three other large boulders I had to cut into seal and lap. A bit of extra work but I got rid of the critter curiosity area and made it so its now always wet to supply the moss with a steady drip of water. I think it will work out just fine.

Watched a heron flying west back to their rookery, it turned in mid flight, flew back over our pond, circled then continued west. Guess it can see the net or it will be back.

Magnificent birds. Until one of our fish is heading down it's throat or worse yet it spears them and cant lift them

I have had moles and mice chew my liner 2 times and now that the 2 stray cats are here all I have seen of mice is the dead ones that they seem to leave me as a present .I guess they are thanking me for saving them

My lotuses are taking off as are the Creeping Jenny in the rain gutter planter. They’re filling in nicely. I added a Hosta in between the two patches of Creeping Jenny.
