I haven't shared my pond in a while. As you can imagine, it has pretty much looked exactly the same for the past month.

@Troutredds we are trying to hold off on the mowing but looks like we won't be able to hold off too much longer as the sunshine is sure making it grow along w/a bit of rain off and on. I love Winter...............if it's gonna be like this every year anyway
You wish!

One person on the net wrote that they did this:

We have a pool and twice a year ducks try to nest around it. They make a mess of the pool. My solution was hi-tech. I went to Leslie's and bought a battery operated boat. I rigged up the battery wires to a home made motion sensor. When the ducks landed in the pool the waves started up and the boat scared them away. Hee hee.

Somebody else said a fake owl w/ a wobbly head worked but I'm not sure that would work but who knows.

They put owls on the edge of the pool in florida, it kept the ducks out of the pool that just loved to swim and poo in it.

Last year when my new pond was still under construction I must have escorted a Mallard duck pair away from my pond nearly 40 times in about two months. The same pair has appeared every year for as long as I can remember, and they sure were thrilled when suddenly a pond appeared.

They have flown into our yard, but with the anti heron net over the pond they don't stay.
