Ooooo Slick, I love that black and red one in the first photo, and also the one directly above that black and red one, the one with the white belly and black with red on top side. When I see such beautiful crisp colors on koi, I wish I had chosen one here and one there, instead of getting too many too quickly, and now I need to not add any more, unless I plan to sell half of what I have. LOL
I dug my two ponds by hand, with a shovel, but the key to doing it all by hand was that I used my tractor and loader to move the dirt. Trying to move dirt in a wheelbarrow would have been back breaking. I could dig in the dirt all day long here, it's super easy to dig. Lots of clay, but easy to "slice" off pieces and keep going. I had perfect weather both times I dug ponds. Going to help my BF's daughter put in a pond in her back yard this summer. Can't wait!!! BF says, "There will be people there to do the digging, you can just supervise." Told him no way, digging is the heart of the pond!
