The granite slabs come at different levels of porosity. Of all the granite counters I have had, only one stained a little bit, none got coated twice a year, actually never.
The stuff we are getting is real dense, I have a peace of it here, even tried to stain it, just to see, nothing sinks in. We need three slabs, they had three all the same lot number which is important.
"
Granite is a porous stone and the degree of porosity varies depending upon the exact mineral make up of the particular
granite you have selected. However, being porous does not mean that you should be unduly concerned with bacteria growth. Bacteria require several things in order to thrive and grow: oxygen, water, sunlight, nutrients, and a substrate to form on. The minerals in
granite are toxic to bacteria. As a result, there is no habitable environment for the bacteria to live and grow on a granite surface."
.It just takes time and since addy and her hubby have done it before it should be a breeze for them .
sort of..............usually once you go to hang the cabinets the walls are crooked, not square, the tiles never end where the electric box is, miserable cutting out the box hole. We do have a hand tile saw, had to buy it for one of the projects. We have lots of work ahead of us, at least we will have a fridge again. Cabinets will be here in around two weeks, then tile, then call for granite measuring.
I enjoy it, love to see the change as you go forward, and so look forward to this change. Our own upgrade!
