Things is addy the repair guy told me this will fix it and then this will fix it and then this will fix it and nothing lasted and each visit he got 56 dollars for his services and then found out with a ohm meter I could figure it out myself and then said to heck with it and bought a new one
the guy came, took the mother board out, we have a variable speed compressor, put all back together. He said it was not worth replacing the compressor. Anyways as he was leaving it started running. He was not charging us anything as he could not repair it,, So we are back to a running fridge for no known reason, do we trust it ............not quite. Give it a month or so then we might.

It may run for awhile but you just have to hope it does not die when it gets hot out and you have a fridge full of food .Mine ran but did not get cold enough .The cold comes from the freezer to the fridge and neither one got cold enough to keep food

Good deal addy. That's what went out in ours when it was still under warranty. Hey I found this guy who fixed his but yours might be like you said a busted compressor but if it is busted then how can it restart? So maybe next time try this.

My mistake it was not the compressor that went wrong in ours. I asked hubby and he said it was the start relay.

Thing is by the time you start adding up all the parts you could have used half that towards a new fridge .I learned the hard way and won't make that mistake again .It can sound like it is running but it may not get cold enough to keep food cold and you can chance getting sick also from spoiled food .How you can check also is with a watt meter because it will use a lot more electricity

Ours was still under warranty so it worked out good for us. If I had to pay too much to get one fixed that would be the end of it. It's been working good for several yrs now but I suppose now that we are talking about it then it will die again :cautious:

It died again, so now it is garbage. Cooled to a nice 60F lol. The repair guy said they are made to last around 3 years.
We picked up a lg (30% off) from home depot,(5% cash back via shop discover) added a 5 yr warranty, (which I hardly ever buy) , they will haul away the old one, we might get bucks back from the electric company, like 100 bucks if the new one is rated energy wise.

Consumer reports (paid for a one month subscription) says LG, samsung, ge , and kenmore have the least repairs. We have had three ge's die in the last year, so going with lg this time. He did say ge is now being built in the US again, so they are supposed to be more reliable.

We got our new Samsung washer and dryer at Lowes. 23% off, free delivery, set-up and haul away plus no interest for 18 months. Also the $100. rebate from power company. Usually can't find a good deal when something breaks. Guess we lucked out!

You guys w/ the new appliances will have to let us know how they last and how you like them.
We bought a Maytag Centennial dryer a few yrs ago and we hate it. When you put blankets or sheets in it they all wad together in a big ball and are still wet inside so you have to dry them again. I have those balls you use in the dryer to separate things which helps some. Our old dryer never did that and it didn't even have balls!

I have whrilpool HE set, front load, even hauled them across country, about 14 years old now. The washer gave us issues, but we think it was because we had the hot water off, it is working fine now.

We got a Bosch dishwasher last year. Top of the line- I hate it! 3 racks, adjustable and I can't get half of my dishes to load properly. Sometimes low tech is better.

I got a bosch dish washer years ago, just two racks fits all we need to put into it, still running great

I checked the frigidaire pro fridge, did too much research looking for what to buy, can't recall why I opted not to get it.

We are getting an induction stove for my new kitchen. We are finally remodeling our own house kitchen, rather than an rental. Cabinets are from the early 70's., very few of them. We are adding an island, and three banks of cabinets that did not exist before.

I love induction since it never gets hot to touch had one in my house in NJ .But you always have to carry a magnet when shopping for pots and pans .Seems they are getting harder to find unless you get the regular metal ones and the interior does not have the non stick in them .I had to pay 187 dollars for pans just to get the non stick surface .Maybe they have gotten better with them since .I want the the in the counter steamer cooker .It has a faucet to put water in the sink part and then you put what ever your cooking in the pot in the sink and then when it is cooked you just press the button and the water drains down the waste pipe and you take your drainer out with the food in it .You cam also make soup in it if you use the solid pot ,similar to a crook pot .it steams and cooks stuff .I had a faucet over my cook top in my kitchen in NJ but hated it because I was always burning my self with it by either touching it when the cooktop was on or trying to fill something .

A well cured cast iron pot will work great,I gave most of mine away when I moved. I checked our pots, most do hold a magnet, so our pots will work. A few are too old. We can use them somewhere else.
I shop for pots, like never, my late hubby bought so many we won't need any in this lifetime.
