Under the weather for the past few days. Can't get out in the heat so during her short lunch break my sweetie spent her time filling up the empty bird feeder and putting out corn for our red fox squirrels. Hundreds of birds each day come to dine and have a cool drink of clear, clean pond water. Wifey knows how much I love to keep our yard and pond visitors well fed. :)

Mrs. Clem when my kids were little, I learned to garden, and took it on full force. My former MIL told me I would get burned out, I did such a large garden. But, I never did! Just finally learned about 6 years ago that I no longer needed to can 50 quarts of green beans, and 50 bags of frozen corn, and 50 jars of tomatoes and another 50 jars of juice. LOL Now my garden consists of 2 Sun Gold cherry tomato plants, 4 other regular tomato plants, and about 8 green/red/orange pepper plants. I love stuffed peppers, and putting chunks of peppers in chili or vege soup is heaven to me!
Lou, I hope you are feeling better soon, and yes, watching all the yard critters can be quite enjoyable, glad you wife filled the feeders so you have some entertainment to keep you smiling and help get you out from under the weather. :)

My grandparents had very large gardens. As a child I remember when my mother and her sisters worked with Mama Moody cooking and canning a wide assortment of veggies and fruit. Also being scared of that pressure cooker.

I cook a lot and love to use sauces I make myself. Will definitely scale back next year on the number of plants. I expected a lot of plants to not make it and they all did!. Have pulled the first batch of bean plants and put in more as I have not gotten enough to use my new pressure canner. (They are a lot safer now). Zuccinni are now going to work with hubby and cuke vines will be pulled.

I had to share this short video with you. I know you all probably have garage door openers, but when mine started catching on one side about a month ago, I knew it was only a matter of time before I would have to fix it, or have it fixed, or worse ... replace it. Well, I had to quit using it last week, and finally looked close enough and realized a pulley had been split, and the cable was no longer running like it should. So, after getting the wrong cable yesterday, I got the right ones, new pulleys, and within an hour, I had replaced not only the 2 pulleys and cable on the side that was worn out, but also did the other side for good measure! It makes me feel like Sissy! I put off things like this, worried that I won't be able to do the job, but then when I get it done, I realized how truly simple it was! Next project ... replace kitchen faucet. ;-)
Please excuse the "junk" in my garage! I had to move some of it around so I could use the ladder on the sides of the door.
