I have a thought about the bog. I would like to have a bird bath of some sort. Does one just form the pea gravel down in a basin shape to the water line. Does it just stay that way? Or, should I put a bowl sunk down into the gravel....will the water circulate enough to keep it clean? Or, could I plumb a small, say 1/2" pvc pipe, using reducers to bubble up into and over the bowl?

The birds bath in the bog, in quite a few places. I just have the pea gravel lower in those places, there is water with plenty of flow to keep it fresh. The birds love it. They use the maple tree as their waiting for their turn spot. So no you do not need a bowl. One of the bathing spots is right at the waterfall into the pond, lots of water flow.

Ok! Great! Less work........thanks, Addy :)
I'm hoping to get the bog completed on Sunday. I did end up ordering a bunch of plants from a web site, but I want to thank you for your offer of cuttings from yours. You're the best!

LOL! I'm stuck at work today.....thinking about leaving early.......hmmmmmm
I still don't know how I'm going to do the 'waterfall' area....maybe going to try and soften up a piece of pvc and widen the end like one I saw somewhere on this forum from Koiguy.
