I was able to give my boys (neutered male dogs) the chewable pill that kills fleas, and also gets rid of worms and heartworms. They seem to be doing better, but both are still scratching some still. The Boston is pregnant, so she can't have that, and they told me to try Advantage, since Frontline was not doing anything. Advantage is not any better. The only time she's not scratching is when she is sleeping, and she wakes to scratch then, too! I guess maybe she's getting a little bit better each day. I will not let puppies go that have fleas, I will figure something out. Going to fog the dog shed (it's about 10x14 and I can fog that before anything gets put in there) before she goes out there for whelping. Going to put a window AC unit in there, just a really small one, as the building is insulated, then figure out some type of doors that they can come in and out of, and all the dogs will have AC available to them during the day! Shouldn't cost too much to run, at least I would hope not, since it will be 110 V, and the AC will be in a north window, so no sun beating down on it all day. We shall see .... AC units are on sale now, too, so good time to buy.

Wow CE that is so nice of you to install AC just for the dogs! Haven't noticed any fleas or scratching from my cats and hope they stay flea free.

Fishy Love, if the area is shaded, hit the "advanced uploader" right underneath and that should take you to a screen that will work. Try that, it should work....

CE I know that I like to go all natural with bug stuff, but nobody should really take my advice on bugs cause one time I got bit by a spider and then got blood poisoning from that one year and was put in hospital for five or six days, and I have been bit so many times trying the natural stuff, that I also had West Nile about four years ago....

Colleen, I would try ANYTHING, if it would only work. I figure the natural stuff is all that a pregnant female can have right now, but doubt it will work either. I just don't know how to get rid of them altogether. Maybe it's impossible. I guess if I could spray all my yard and then it would not rain for a couple of weeks (I don't wish that, though) and washed all bedding AGAIN, and kept the dogs in a flea free area ... would that work? I just hate to spray for fleas in the yard, which I'm certain would have an affect on the frogs as they would not be able to jump around and snack on any bugs, they would be non-existent on the ground. The chemical would likely hurt or kill the frogs, too. Not that I've seen many frogs, but the few I have I would like to keep! It's just frustrating. I need to get off this subject now. LOL

Glad you finally have your new mower. I hope it does the job for you and no worries on your hills. Still, be careful, but that looks like a great mower. I love my Cub, although mine is the ZTR. I know you didn't want the two handled ZTR, but did you still get the zero turn, just with a steering wheel instead of 2 handles?

just got the lawn tractor my neighbor has the zero turn with the steering wheel and after I mowed part of his lawn I was not impressed by it .To much weight in the back made it slide a little and his yard does not have as much a slope as mine and for 27 hundred dollars I decided to get one with more power for my hill and this one has 22 horse power so it did a great job on my hill .I mowed it yesterday and not a problem and only cost 1799.00 so decided to save money and get what I felt comfortable with .

A few simple things will make most anything last a lot longer.

1. Don't abuse it too much.

2. Do the scheduled maintance.

3. Fix everything on it that breaks down to the smallest part.

A lot of how we view things has to do with how good it looks to us. Things that look new are more likely to get the care the need.

Absolutely true, HTH. I learned that taking my mower in for yearly maintenance in the middle of the mowing year works best for me. First, the place is not swamped with everyone wanting their maintenance done before the mowing seasons starts. Also, I can schedule an appt. and drop it off, pick it up same day, instead of "we'll get to it when we can". I get the blades sharpened and oil changed and then it's fresh to go for the rest of the season, into the next early season. I usually mow anything that is tougher to mow BEFORE I get the blades sharpened, like around the pasture fence, so after get them sharpened, it's good to go. Also have a tire that is losing air slowly, have to add a little each time, so will have them fix that while it's in. I load it up into my horse trailer, as it's low to the ground, easy to load and unload. And then don't have to make another trip to town with the trailer.
Now, waxing it ... that's a neat idea, need to do that when I wax my car and truck, soon as it's not 95 degrees outside! Put them in the shade of my pine tree in the afternoon, that way they are nice and cool for waxing.
