GIGGETY-GIGGETY!!
just as SATAN'S greatest deception was, to make people believe he didn't exist...
That on and off would drive me crazy, as well as a no call that he cant make it. HERE, contractors will take a deposit, lock it in by making a mess, then go elsewhere, and do the same. Unless a material needed for the job is out of stock, or waiting for an inspection, we are on one job at a time til it is done. We've had a few clients over the years be a bit unhappy that it took time for us to get to them, but once there, they know we are all theirs unless a true emergency.Big Lou said:We are extremely pleased with his work just the on and off gets a bit nervene. He has multiple jobs going on so I'm sure that is where he and his crew are so far this week. Friday he said he would see me Monday. If he would just tell us he's not coming then all is fine.
I love my chi and could not imagine life without him and my hubby would not be alive with out him .He is an applehead there are also deer heads and deer heads do not have the breathing problemscapewind said:I miss having a kitty. We are at that stage where the kids are moving in and out. Youngest is going through the "I know it all stage" so is now staying with her grandparents ... that is a good thing LOL, but miss her kitty sitting with me ... older daughter moved back in, and her kitty is super sweet, but is too afraid to come down stairs yet. A recent bad experience with a dog our daughter doggie-sat has Lacey not wanting to meet our dog:-( Told hubby I wanted a tiny Chihuahua ... best of both worlds... He thinks I was joking, but I really want one LOL.
Please expound upon ".......the reference to the driveway not being profitiable to the contractor. No client should ever feel like that.". I should have added we feel the LS Designer is out of his area of expertise with the driveway. Initially he did not reveal his lack of experience with a driveway.capewind said:That on and off would drive me crazy, as well as a no call that he cant make it. The most important thing right now is you are happy with the work they are doing. As a contractor, I dont like the fact that you sound that you feel you are not that important to your contractor since the meat and potatoes may have been paid already .. the reference to the driveway not being profitiable to the contractor. No client should ever feel like that.
You had written "All that's left to do is the driveway (a money loser for him since he under estimated the difficulty)" and some misc other items, which I took to mean the contractor is dragging his feet to get back there since he will lose money on the driveway. You hired what you believed to be a professional. You shouldnt be wondering at this stage in the game if he knows what he is doing, is able to finish, or his unreliability. I find this all unacceptable as a business owner. It is NOT my intent to worry you more, I just hate that you sound uncomfortable, and NEVER should you be feeling that way. It gives all contractors a bad name. You choose to hire because either you were unable, or unwilling to do the work yourself. Peace of mind is supposed to come with hiring a professional .. I dont care if it is pouring out. If hubby is scheduled to be some place, and cant work as promised, I call to let the client know.Big Lou said:Please expound upon ".......the reference to the driveway not being profitiable to the contractor. Questions ...Big Lou said:Give me your advice please. If the driveway continues being a near impossible task for the contractor would it be "rude" of us to suggest he finish all other tasks and drop the driveway and garage door? What is an acceptable way to ask for the total price be adjusted?
Yes, we signed a simply contract with a total price. Your answer was exactly what I expected. Thank you so much. Time will tell........capewind said:You had written "All that's left to do is the driveway (a money loser for him since he under estimated the difficulty)" and some misc other items, which I took to mean the contractor is dragging his feet to get back there since he will lose money on the driveway. Questions ...
#1, did you sign a contract? A verbal contract can be just as binding as a written contract, but it is easier to get out of a verbal contract.
#2, did this contractor give you multi prices, with a combined total, or did they just say $x for all? IF each item is itemized out, with indiviual prices given, you can outright tell him that while you are happy with the work so far, you are not comfortable continueing (whatever you are feeling).
IF it was just one price given, you are at the mercy of the contractor to be fair and say deduct $x for whatever you take off the list. In that case, if you think he can handle doing the rest of the work, do not pay another penny until the job is complete AND you are happy with the quality of the workmanship.
By not paying anything else til completion, if you are not happy, you can hire someone else to fix whatever, and use the remaining moneys to hopefully cover the new contractor.
I am going to hope it all works out as was originally planned, but a signed contract, that wasnt itemized still has some outs for you.Big Lou said:Yes, we signed a simply contract with a total price. Your answer was exactly what I expected. Thank you so much. Time will tell........
What are you going to do when "Baby" gets four feet long? You certainly are a caring person to rescue such a marvelous creature. What do your Cape Cod friends think of Baby. He certainly provides you with a unique starter topic at dinner parties! ( love it smile )capewind said:Plenty of Chi mixes around, but I want a little guy LOL. I cant walk into a shelter, bad place for me to go ... I am actually not allowed per hubby ... God only knows what I would come home with. The last four legged "rescue" I took in was a Tegu ... Six years later, he is still here LOL.
Here's a pic of hubby playing with Baby
