Good to have you back mogsie. Hope you aren't in too much pain after your crash. Sounds like you had fun. Did you get any pics? If not then shame on you...............you know how we love pix!

Guess you were just meant to raise fishies. Keeps ya outta trouble anyways, lol!

I went on a bike ride by myself yesterday. Hubby was doing some work at his sis's house about 30 miles away so I decided to ride my bike down there and visit w/ sis while he worked. Oh me oh my what did I do that for? It was almost 90F when I got halfway there and it was uphill most of the way. I tried to die a few times but it just wasn't happening, lol! Sweat was pouring off me the whole way there. I did bring plenty of water tho. Took me 4 hours to get there. Will never do that ride again...........too many hills.........eeeee gads!!! At least I didn't have to ride back. Just threw the bike in the back of the truck and collapsed in his sis's front yard!

I wasn't going to do that ride but it wasn't that hot when I thought about it yesterday but halfway through I fried! Not doing that one again. Will do some that are more flat next time. Don't mind a few hills but that was crazy of me! Would rather have flown down some nice long hills rather than up, up, up! Feel like I should have lost 20lbs but no, that didn't happen!

My wife and I rode 40 miles one day on some old railroad tracks that were turned into a bike trail very nice peaceful ride and it was shaded, however my butt was killing me after the ride. When I was young I used to ride about 25 miles a day, I had one of those racing bikes where the tires are about 1/2" thick and very light. One day when we were going down this big hill going about 40 miles an hour three of us crashed into the guardrail bent the heck out of my wheel, and scratched the heck out of my leg. This was before helmets were recommended, surprised I didn't have a concussion.

I have a neat bike made by hummer, thick tires etc. I have not ridden in years, we have nothing but hills here, narrow roads, fast cars, I need to get some practice.....want my bones to stay intact.

All 3 of you crashed..................40 miles an hour? And it's a wonder you're not dead!
I like those old peaceful rides too................nice country meandering, beautiful scenery......................and not so many hills, wind, rain, cold............just warm sunshine, clean air and blue skies :sun_smiley:

You need to put the bike on the back of your car or in your truck addy and drive somewhere nice and flat and pretty and just take a nice relaxing ride to start w/ and then gradually work you wear up to torture

I would jw, but nothing here is flat, or safe, I have never seen such small twisty roads where people go so fast! And they have no side areas to them. I might try it just in the neighborhood, up and down up and down lol, we have three streets here.

Too bad you can't take your bikes w/ ya to Florida, now that would be a cool place to bike! Does your honey bike? You should keep your bike down there when you go visit your in-laws.

addy do you not have any cycle specific area's near you like the disused railway tracks teherrmann4 used to ride, we have whole networks here in cumbria of old railway lines that have been converted into bicycle tracks, i dont ride them as they are flat !! only got a few pictures while we were there, but here is a couple !

ummm how do I say this, I like flat smooth roads lol.............. that does look exciting and fun! Beautiful place to ride, to be honest I wouldn't follow you down that path............. I think your bones are younger than mine

Not really out here mogsie, we are pretty rural, I have not looked real hard, but in driving around I have not seen any cycle paths. I have been hit once by a car while on a bike, once was enough. The pond and yard work has been my work out so far.
