When I bought anacharis I also purchased the lead weights with them. I took about 3 or 4 bunches and tied them together. They have not seemed to hurt my pond that I know of. Heck didn't you grow up with lead paint and stuff and you seem to be fine.

Ha Ha tmann you are not immune to this disease of going out into the great beyond either ya know, lol! The cure is to make tmann a mod so we don't have to worry about the whole deal, he'll have us walking around w/ our heads on crooked babbling like a brook, lol!

JW how about a stainless steel washer then or will this be too shiny for you in your pond?

Ah now there ya go, that's an idea. When all these groups of weeds are all weighted down on the bottom wondering how hard it will be to muck off the bottom w/ a net? Guess just net them up and move them and then put them back down there?

For some reason the hauling of rocks never seems to end for me. Today I decided to build a small rock wall to keep the mulch from washing into my paver sidewalk. This is only about 1/3 finished as I have to do the other side and another section that is about 25 ft long. Still need to do some tweaking but for now it works.

Good idea on the rocks. That looks really nice tmann and your place looks like a pretty park. Love how you've landscaped everything!

I just push my lilies around when out there messing with the pond jw, you could just push them to the side when messing around with the net.

So looked on the net (of course cuz I have a need to know everything about anything) and somebody posted this and was wondering if we have anybody w/ any knowledge about confirming this information:

"Lead is not a problem. You’ll notice the surface is not shiny, but dull. That’s because the metal is covered with an adherent layer of basic lead carbonate, Pb3(CO2)2(OH)2. This forms within hours when lead is exposed to moisture and air, and prevents further corrosion or dissolution. If you scrape it to get a shiny surface, you can watch this happen. Lead pipes laid by the Romans are still in use. Lead doesn’t dissolve unless the pH is acidic, which it should never be in a pond. "
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So it sounds like if you put it in touch w/ acid it is bad. So that is why I assume when birds eat it they die cuz of the acid in their stomach's..........whoa it's all coming together now. And if a baby chews on lead paint the acid in their tummies gets the lead degenerating.
And if a Roman drank wine which is acid in a lead mug then there ya go...........goner!
So sitting there in your pond it stays dormant and is considered safe and your water would never be that acid to start it dissolving.

JW if you get those lead weights they sell on the net for your pond plants, a word of caution if you ever walk in your pond is to be careful not to step on any of the old weights that don't have plants on them or that have died from the last year. These weights lay on the bottom and could cut your liner if you step on them wrong. I kind of like the idea of a washer because they don't have any sharp edges.
