We ave a few small hardware stores here I visit 6 of them privately owned and operated and love looking in the nooks and crannys for my next treasure .There are some in Bedford and Gretna that I have to check out next .The one up in Stuart was a treasure trove of neat finds .I bought a really old well pump up there as a gift for a friend's house warming gift .Guy at the store even did not know it was still there and cost me only 25 dollars .I almost kept it for myself .It was heavy as heck and really big ,not those tiny ones they have now .I left my number with him and said if he found another one call me ,but noothing yet .Hardware store even had a porch with rocking chairs on it .

LOL John, we still have ONE old fashion hardware store left. It isnt convienent to get to, so I only actually go there once every couple of years, when I need something the others dont have... like a case of floor buffing pads for filter media for the ponds LOL.

we dont have black friday here in uk, we have "mad friday" and that is the day when most people break from work for the holidays and everybody goes out drinking gets very drunk and thus "mad ffriday"... not a nice day in the town really, lots of people making an arse of themselves.

We still have a small town hardware store in our town. They will have things you can't find anywhere else and usually have good prices.
I did black friday the last 2 years but it's just not worth it. It's a shame stores are open on holidays. Growing up, families went for a drive on Sunday as everything was closed. (Telling my age!). Did 20 years working for a grocery chain and when I started we closed at 5pm on Sundays and10pm every other night. Now stores are open 24/7! I still have nightmares about the week before Thanksgiving. I always got pulled out of the office to put back the tons of groceries that people didn't want or couldn't afford. Our chain is the only onethat doesn't open on Christmas day yet-

great song L, i have their greatest hits cd, jeff lynne has just re-recorded their greatest hits, saying he could hear his inexperiance in the original recordings, so he felt the need to completely re-record them all from scratch. he also has a new album with new original material due out next year !

We have something very similar to that..... we call it "Rush hour traffic"! :tongue:
