Working for the State, I have excellent health care, at a great cost, so know I need to keep my job into retirement. Taxes on my house and 6 acres are about $3,500. Far less than the 50% you are talking, Colleen! Even if I figured in my health care costs, but then I also have to pay some toward healthcare if I need hospitalization, etc. My doctor/dentist/eye doctor visits are minimal, something like $10 per visit, and prescriptions are same if I can get generic. I have a cap of something like $1,500 per year, then health care is pretty much 100%. I think that's about as good as you get it here in the U.S., not sure though.
Lou, I am praying for you and your wife, hoping she gets either a new exciting job, or her company brings her back. Sometimes moving on is best, so I hope whatever works out is the best for her at this time in her life! Good luck to her.
Colleen, I can sure understand the snuggle issue! I bet your hubby missed that part as well. Keep close, keep snuggling, all will be better in time. Here, they kick out a new mother and infant the day after the birth, unless there were complications, like a C-Section. When my kids were born (both were C-Sections), I stayed mandatory 5 days. I think now it's maybe 3. Normal birth, 24 hours and you're out the door! My friend's 19 yo daughter is due next month, thinking the kid thinks it's going to be a big party having that baby to show off, she has no idea of what she is getting into. I pray for her to understand and be able to handle being a mother daily! The birth will sure wake her up!
Fishy, anxious to hear what you find out at that greenhouse. It would be a fun day to spend at an auction, plants no less, and see what we would come up with! I'm looking for a road trip anyhow. Could visit my cousin and her family that live in the Evansville area as well!
