Sissy, my sister has a cocker that loves grapes, cut up tomatoes, and other fruits and veges. I am amazed that animals like that. But, I guess ponders say their koi like veges and fruits, too! You are proof that dogs can and do like other things besides meat.

I think I tried pieces of some type of fruit with the koi, but can't remember what right now. Maybe some type of melon? Anyhow, a few of the koi liked it, the others swam away. I usually don't have blueberries and strawberries, so will have to try new things next summer.

Darn, I was typing away here earlier this afternoon and blamo the power went out and now it just came back on at around 6pm. If we get anymore snow here we will be w/o power again for who knows how long. The snow is not light and soft either, it is wet and real heavy. They are saying that if we get any rain on top of any flat buildings that the wet snow will soak it up like a wet sponge and collapse them. Warning people to take the snow off of those flat ones. Not too many people around here know how to drive in the snow and ice here. Better to stay home then have a face off w/ a crazy driver! I'm not budging! I am still loving the snow tho!

Those heavy wet snows can cause some damage, we had one that dumped 20 inches during one storm. Garages, buildings etc collapsed under the snow weight.

Stay safe jw, off those roads. I won't drive if there is any white stuff on the roads, nothing is important enough to get me behind the wheel. Our news stations just said record snow hitting you, 5-10 more inches coming today.

Wow, stay safe JW, and any other WA friends! My brother and sister-in-law live in Seattle, but they are on a World Cruise right now, so no worries. Lucky them!!! But, that sounds really dangerous by you with more coming.
My parents were born and raised in Milwaukee, WI area, and my dad made certain that all 6 of us kids learned to drive on snow and ice. I remember one day when I lived at home, only 3 blocks from the office where I worked, I could not get going, ice covered the road. No problem. Dad came out, pushed my little Pontiac Sunbird up onto the middle of the road, where it was crowned a little, and told me to not stop at the stop sign, just slow down, make sure no one was coming and crawl around the corner. I made it to work that day, and was the only one that did, besides one attorney. I don't go out now when there is ice, though. Nothing is that important that requires me to risk my life with the other crazies. If I was the only one on the highway, I would do it in a heartbeat, but everyone else seems to need to go much faster, and it scares me when they pass me. LOL At my age (53), safe is far better than sorry!

Worst has to be when power goes out and the house gets cold and glad you got it bck on .I know here they don't know how to drive in snow either ,but they are dummies and still try to go out in it .I know my limits and would not risk it .Even being from NJ and knowing how to drive in it does not always help you either Now all you can do is hope for a nice warm up ,but even though you don't like wind it may help your trees loose some of the snow on there branches at least if the wind is not to strong ,a nice light breeze .My koi like watermellon too

No worries when our power goes out we have a big generator and a wood stove to keep us nice and toasty. Still snowing but just very lightly. We have enough now thank you! Might put on the skis today and do some cross country..........can't go for my walk so why not? It's very good exercise!

Must be nice and clear there where you are mogsie. We try to get out and see things like that in the sky but it usually ends up being too cloudy. Love to see the shooting stars in summer! Have managed to view some eclipses. Very cool!
