When I take apart my bottom pond some day in future, (you know how that works, once you finish one pond project, the mind gets restless and starts dreaming of other pond project improvements) (ha ha ha) The Plan I am currently dreaming about is to have a built in skimmer, For summer use. Not sure about winter use.. I just need a smaller hidden little skimmer. I did see a nice little skimmer for a smaller pond that was part of the actual liner so skimmer was at same level as water in pond. Something smaller like that would work good. The Bottom pond is about 12 by 6 or so, only 2.5 feet deep.

We have one that hangs over the hot tub, it chases everything else away. The air space belongs to that one carpenter bee. They seem to be territorial

My neighbor has so much damage from them that she has to replace some bigger parts of her deck and trellis .I did what they said 3 years ago but they seem not to go near them .Role up paper into tubes and build a bird house structure around them to keep it from getting wet and they will go in the tubes ,yeh sure not one has went there .30+ plus tubes and they are all empty .They prefer to dig holes in my porches ,decks ,carport and furniture .Plus they attack the hummingbirds .They won't leave you alone when your outside .Mowing the grass they fly into your head and was out there staining bridges and they kept flying at me .I use a dowel and a little caulk to plug there holes in stuff .Caulk on the end and put dowel into the hole and snap it off .So far used almost 10 dowels and they were all 4 feet long ones .They won't even let the birds near the feeders or the bird bath

Ugh, what a pain! Our house is in the process of being resided with hardy board ( cement board), previously it was cedar and we had quite a bit of carpenter bee damage:( Is this variety of bee endangered and important to pollination?

They pollinate by rolling in the pollen .They carry it on there bodies but they say they are so many of them they are endangering other pollinators /They are really mean to the hummingbirds .Like addy said they are territorial .Which is not a good thing and they take so much pollen that they leave the other bees with almost nothing .Besides the damage they do .
