Worked all day again, moved lots of frozen pallets in the big cold freezer at work today. stocked the disp[ay tables well with sweets, they sell so well in the summer. We sell tons of donuts during the summer months. August 27 our work union is going to vote on a strike....

Tomorrow I think my water lilly will bloom for the first time again in years. I trimmed some of the tree branches in the spring that hung above the pond and now I am finally going to have a water lilly bloom!

Finally... for the first time in many many years, I have a water lilly flower!! What are the chances that it will bloom on the weekday my hubby is home, cause of regular doctor check up? BUT Look at how beautiful it is!! AND it is PINK! Must be a good sign from God! Hubby and I are going to sit by pond and enjoy the rest of the morning with a coffee and newpaper. Life is GOOD!

I have recently started cobbling the pond. I am tired of buying and hauling fresh wood chips to freshen things up. I am tired of raking up the wood chips cause the dry leaves mix in and are hard to separate the wood chips and the leaves. New Cobbling stone project around pond is now coming along quite nice. I have a steady line of friends and family over every night to watch me work. This evening my "Coconut" sister came over and danced on the stones to help press them in nice,

Tomorrow I will find another large ant hill on the praire and steal their sand pile at dusk as then they will be sleeping. The ants have the perfect sized rock pebbles that fit in between the cobbling rocks best and help lock them down tight.

Yours look so good! I am going to do like you did and reform this area that we had to mess up so the painter could get to the lower boards on our front porch. I will need lots more of the smaller rocks. The search is on,wish me luck cuz I have devoured every rock in the areas around our hood!

JW, that should look so good in your area, and it is easy to do, place the rocks down and dig rocks in if necessary, then when all the rocks are in place, fill the gaps will pea gravel or better yet, ant hill sand, and sweep the gravel/sand in place with a broom, then water down and press in tight by walking over area. simple! Easy, and you can look around your area get all the small rocks and sand for free!! Later tonight as the sun goes down, I will raid the large ant hill on the prairie and steal their sand!! (Get sand from ant hill at dusk then they will be sleeping)

Found 4 rocks today on my hunt and stashed them away in the grass and I'll come by and get them later. You can't take any chances cuz there are all kinds of rock seekers out there. The ant hills I see around here I'm not sure if it is sand or some kind of pieces of tiny sticks they are building w/but we have free sand places here at the river or beaches and some of the gravel places give it away also in big piles. The rocks I found today were about 6 - 8" round w/ flat area's on them too so they'll be good for walking on when buried a bit.
Your poor ants will wake up to another hard day of work having to rebuild their dome home! You need to bring them a sweet treat to eat next time you go by them to make amends w/ them all!

Yes JW. good idea to appease the Ants and bring sweet treats and then they can have more energy to rebuilt their sandpile and I can steal it again! ha ha ha

The cobbling has grown again and now stretches almost all around bottom pond. My hubby is very pleased and loves it much more than the wood chips. I love the look much and the leaves sweep off much nicer too.

They are very "reto" cause I have had them for over 20 years too! Ha ha ha. I only got the two, years ago, and they were made here in town by this place called the Sun Shine Corner.

Almost all my cement is from the Sun Shine Corner, sadly no longer in business, it was run by a father and his son. About 13 years ago or so, the son who was around 30 years old at the time, went out to the Cypress Hills park to fish, and never came home, the dad when out to look for him and he was found dead, slumped over his fishing rod, died of a heart attack. He was a very nice man, good looking and appeared to be in good shape too, but somehow just had a heart attack. My old red cement benches and other round stepping stones were all made by them, so it is fitting that I keep them and work them into the cobble stone mosaic, that way I can always remember the father son team.... :)
