yikes collen . All it was was one of those countertop ice cream makers a friend gave me that make frozen yogurt too .silk coconut milk and stevia sugar and vanilla and ice and 20 minutes in the ice cream maker .I thought to add strawberries after and it made a great milk shake .For the coffee one I just poured the cold coffee in the blender and added 2 scoops of the frozen coconut ice cream to it .

Sounds good, I will keep my eye out for a cheap ice cream maker. It's so expensive to buy coconut ice cream, so it would be nice to make my own.
Hubby made his own costume for Halloween to give out candy, carved his own pumpkin too, help him feel better and got him into a good mood. We had about 60 kids for Halloween, in spite of the freezing rain all day! I stalked the street's dressed as a witch. Had all the decorations up, scary lights, we all had fun, now I'm tried. Had to take hubby to Calgary again, for dentist. The have to pull the rest of his teeth before radation treatment. Drove threw thick fog again and freezing rain to get here. Texting from cell phone at this little coffee shop, somewhere downtown Calgary.

Ha ha that's a funny costume there that your hubby made  Neat that you guys had fun and lots of kids. We get one kid each year. No other young kids live nearby. Soon he will be too old too and then no more. Gosh they have to pull all his teeth? So he will have a whole set of dentures when it's all over eh or are they just pulling the ones that are in the way of his treatment? Does not sound fun to me for him again. He won't be feeling like eating again I fear. Wishing him to get well soon from all this horrible stuff they are doing to him!

Yes, it is horrible. They said the teeth would not withstand the radition treatment, so they recommended pulling the rest of the teeth out. His top teeth were cut out when they removed the cancer, they cut out most of the upper jaw bone, roof of mouth, and part of the cheek. They rebuilt the top jaw using bone from his leg, and new cheek from skin grafts from arm and leg. Then yesterday they pulled the teeth on the bottom, so he has no teeth right now, losing lost of weight. They will give him dentures for bottom, top will be a while before any type of false teeth can be put in place, and that is just a "maybe" for top teeth, have to wait to see how strong the new top jaw will be.

We were told that without radiation the cancer has a higher chance of coming back in future. So John decided to go ahead with radiation and lower the chance of it coming back.

Oh wow that is extreme but guess he needs to do it so he can make sure cancer stays away. I feel bad for him. He is being really strong to endure all this and still be happy and mess around doing fun Halloween stuff and all. Glad he has you to keep him uplifted cuz you are such a happy, fun caring person. Even tho I've never met you in real life I can see you are an amazing, good person Colleen. Sending both of you hugs and hope he stays strong, gets some weight back on and can live a long and happy life w/ you

This evening, just now by the pond, look how just a short while ago it was light, then suddenly it got dark! Does that lots this time of year, especially today, "fall daylight saving time", set clock back one hour last night. Can you spot the "monster lurking!"

Hey Colleen, You are both very brave. We followed everything they recommended for my wife and now she is in total remission. The doctors are aware of what works and its best to follow their recommendations. Actually they say 20% of adults have some form of cancer now. It's actually amazing now that so many people have a good quality of life despite having the disease. Cancer affects almost every family in some way now. When my wife was sick one of our friends said oh it's no big deal that you have cancer. Everyone has it now. We are still trying to figure out how appropriate a comment thats was and if we should be mad at them!

lol keith, it is just the way some peoples brains work. They don't know what to say, so say something they think will make you feel better.

Today, reporting live from inside the warm toasty greenhouse igloo, where I still have fresh pumpkins and tomatoes from garden. Snowing lightly, fish swimming nicely. Still have some Halloween candle holders inside greenhouse, got to switch to Christmas candle stuff.

I made a nice slow cooked beef rib steaks added large chunks of onions, couple cloves of garlic, some hot peppers and lots of garden tomato's, stewed down and then I strained all the large chunks and meat out, left with nice thick beef and tomato broth, served over triple whipped and extra creamey potatoes, super easy to swallow for the hubby, and he ate it very well, so that is good. Meals have to be easy to swallow. Going to pick up a can of re-fried beans cause they are mashed well, and serve the leftover beef tomato broth over the mashed beans and add chlll spices so he can have something that tastes like chilli, without large chunks. :)

Is it called Veterans Day there too Colleen? And nice of you to go and pay tribute. It looks like everyone is freezing but they all still showed up to participate. Very nice.
