So many neat things can be made of rocks, I just love my rocks! Here's a picture of some "plastic" stacked rocks for sale at the garden centre in town, it's only a foot and a half tall and they want 30 bucks for it, I would just make my own!
The stacked-rock structure is called an "Inukshuk", from the Aleut (Eskimo) language, meaning "in the shape of a man". They were a means of marking trails in the far North, where rocks were the only things available that would stand up to the elements. Here in Ontario you can see them along roads wherever rocks can be found (the whole province, basically). Every rock-cut has several along the top, but most are only piles of rocks. The biggest Inukshuk I've seen is between Blind River and Sault-Ste-Marie, and stands about 20' high.

Yes Haro you are right, my husband told me that too. I think they can look great in a garden as a point of interest. People here are putting them in there yards now.

Thanks Addy, going to look for some today, wrist feels better today, yesterday I swear it was broke, had it wrapped up, couldn't move it hardly, pain was intense. Got me depressed cause I wanted to do stuff in yard and I felt like my body was falling apart. Foot was stiff yesterday, I swear if I stop moving I will cease up!

Have a Lovely Day in your garden :) :) :) :)

Got to take it easy for a couple days on the hand, it feels much better, pain just went away today, though I wouldn't say it was 100% yet, but at least I can work with it again. My sweet flag is blooming, here's what it looks like, nothing flowery or anything, but it does not bloom every year, think it has only bloomed 3 or 4 times in all the years that I have had it. It only has one bloom that I could find on the whole big plant. River is getting high again, suposed to get much higher yet, came up real fast last night, must be all the rain upstream, they had lots of heavy rain. It was a very cloudy stormy day today, got tons of rain.

Golly Colleen, will you please quit hogging all that rain? We are so parched here, my cracks have cracks! I worry about the 4th and fireworks. At least my crazy neighbor is not home...he usually throws off bottle rockets and I always worry about my roof and then my pond! I will say, this dry weather makes mowing the lawn not a problem..."No Grow...No Mow"!! Please send some rain here? PLEASE? :umbrella:

Colleen hope your hand gets better soon! You have so many nice plants and they all look so healthy. Maybe you will get some sunshine soon as today it is sunny here and I will mow my grass and then after that you can have the sunshine from me!

Hands all better now thanks! Don't know what happened? It was horrid pain for 12 to 14 hours, then noticed very warm water made my hand feel good, good as new, was moving more rocks in that dark tonight, got to get front sidewalk edge all nice again. Love the new sidewalk, but I got to fix my walk to the house cause it's crooked and sunken quite low, will take pictures when done.

River was even higher, drove down that road two days ago, now nice grassey flooded inland pool for puppies to wade in, far away from faster river flow. :)

Mad Hatter.....so glad your hand is feeling better. My rt. hand is hurting...could be because I rolled 120 diapers to make my DIL a Diaper Cake for her shower in 1 week. ;) I will take your hint about warm water! Your pictures are so lush w greenery. you should see the cracks in out ground. It is terrible. We are so very dry and heading for 107* today. UGH!! :FIREdevil: I am so grateful. for the person(s) that invented AC!!

get some rice, warm it up in a microwave in a bowl, put your hand in the bowl, careful it is not too hot. Or put some rice in an old sock, large one, tie the end, warm it in microwave and wrap around hand feels great! takes away the pain

Gr8 idea addy1! I still have more diapers to roll then I start building the diaper cake...the baby shower is in 2 weeks...may have to rest between rolls!

:goldfish:

It actually makes a great baby shower gift, helps take away post baby mommy pains. Knee highs make a wonderful heated rice sock, easy to wrap around any body part. You don't want it filled too full, you need to be able to bend and flex the sock.

Thanks for the tips Addy! Shoestring I would 'beam" you up Canada to cool off if could! Then we could have a coffee and sit by the pond! Feel sorry for you down there, way too hot, how can you even breathe! Seen the news this morning, CBC news reported on the extreme heat and storms down there. Hope things get better soon!

working hard trying to get front sidewalk straight, it sunk and the grass was eating the walk up! Here's my progress so far, thoses blocks are real heavy too!

Looks good what you've done so far but looks like back breaking work to me! Take it nice and easy and just take your time. It's hard I know putting them in place and then you have to make sure they are just right so moving them here and there, up and down cuz you want it perfect! Gonna look really nice when its all done next to your lovely planting beds :)

Taking a break, going to have a hot coffee and cool off by the sky blue water, where the sun is shining, birds are singing and the tall grass blows in the cool Canadian breeze... Come to Canada to beat the heat, its 87 degrees right now, first nice hot day!
