The roof is wood shingles and they need to be replaced some day, when that day gets here the vine will get chopped. Right now I think their holding the shingles down! I like the look of the vine too and I will let it regrow and shade the house. When it gets really hot, and we do get some real hot dry weather, or at least we used to, it really helps cool the house, rarely do I have to air condition anymore. :)

So JW, you'll have to "drive around" to find a nice hot spot to enjoy, just so you can try out your air conditioner! Here's pictures of the bottom pond, I lined the shallow inside edge with white rocks today, just to give the pond a new look. Thought that the white rocks on pond ledge look nice and fish seem to like it too. Of course I will have to rotate these rocks back out in the hot sun to dry off algae when it pops up. But for now it looks much nicer I think.

Its just a few on the one ledge, won't be too big a deal, or I might just leave it for a while, that's just me, always moving the rocks around! You could do just the one ledge here and there if you where having a special event, and you wanted to give it a quick facelift fast. I sure wouldn't do the whole pond like that, I'd be worn out trying to sun dry them clean always! :)

Featured pond plant of the month..... My favorite too! The Iris Pseudacorus
Commonly known as yellow flag iris, this native plant of England is now naturalized in North America. A TRUE SWAMP plant and aquatic plant, it grows in even deeper water than I. Laevigata and makes good growth in double quick time, in as much as 15 inches of water.

The yellow flag is the only yellow-flowered species in the Iris series. Normally growing to a height of 28 to 38 inches, it can grow as tall as 4 feet (like in my pond) in the wild! It has deep green to gray green leaves, 4 to 12 flowers, crowding reduces that number of flowers.

A very hardy pond plant, it should be left in place through the winter, the dead foliage trimmed back above water level in northern-grown climates. Southern-grown plants may remain green year-round.

Very large clumps will float, as in my pond, Not necessary to pot up, small plants can be started up in gravel or rocks to anchor in place at water edge. My yellow flag has not been in a pot now for at least 18 years, bust out of pot long ago. :)

Thanks for the compliments! I did something to my wrist last night, maybe in my sleep, don't know for sure but wow did it hurt all night! I can't seem twist my wrist or anything. Took some asprin, arthritis is making my fingers stiff, moved too many rocks, but can't figure out what happened to my wrist?? It feels a litte better than it did 6 hours ago, maybe I try a ibuprofen. D-:

try tylenol arthritis, it save me when I over use my hands, I take just one not the two they suggest and only if I know I have done a job on my hands.
