I heard that too mw and the law kicked her outta that spot for some reason. Maybe cuz kids aren't allowed near those places? What an ingenious idea tho

I heard the girl was shut down because she didn't have a vendors license.
Success will draw attention....

CE, Thanks! They're Black Russian Terriers. We have a dog door that they can come in and out of, but sometimes even when it was -30 they preferred to lay outside.

That's right they are cracking down on those little kids now selling kool aid or anything now w/o a license now that you mention it. OH the good old days.............what have we become?

How freaking crazy is that, kids not allowed to sell cookies or lemonade without a license??? I guess it depends on where they set up their stands. LOVE your smoking banana, JW, pretty hat he is sporting, too. LOL And, Mitch, your dogs look VERY tough, probably prefer the cold weather with the coats they are wearing.

I drilled a couple of test holes this afternoon and the ice thickness is 12 inches (down from more than 20 inches mid winter)

This was apparently the coldest February in 20 years for us.
I'm sure a lot of you folks down south hit similar records.
There's got to be a limit for how long fish can stay under ice....

I've had ice cover since about October 15.
5 months and counting.

Wow, that's a VERY long time for total ice cover, Mitch. I think I've only had full ice coverage for maybe a total of 2 weeks, and probably not even that if you consider the holes created by the heaters and aeration bubblers. I have not had more than 3-4" of ice on my ponds, or at least that's my guess. Sure hope your fish are doing just fine, Mitch, and that your air breathers did the job nicely,

Thanks CE, last year my pond was totally ice free by April 5, which was just under 6 months of ice cover. There's no way that's going to happen this year.

The dogs were barking and barking at something in our yard so I was out on the deck trying to see what it was.
I couldn't see anything out there until I turned around and saw this little fella staring back at me!

No, and I don't plan on feeding him/her.
There's lots of seed spillage from the bird feeders plus mice and voles that are around.
She's probably just wandered there after becoming a little more active with our relatively warmer temperatures.
She's all curled up there now. Probably sleep there for a few hours I guess.
I'm really hoping she doesn't go into the dogs pen...:meh:

Awww ... and to think you grabbed your camera to take a pic. Did you worry she would spray you? I'm glad you got the pic! I probably would have done the same thing, but my luck would have gotten sprayed. LOL Yep, hope she doesn't go into or near the dog's pen, then she can quietly leave. Probably just enjoying the warmth in the corner.

I wasn't worried. She was moving pretty slowly and I didn't get a sense that I upset her too much.
During the night she found her way into our compost pail, so she had a good feast.
And to show her appreciation, she left a nice, now frozen, pee puddle...

...Classy.:meh:

lol

.

I followed her footprints. She's living underneath the pole barn.
