Addy that thing looks like a submarine! Glad you are getting it all situated and covered up before that storm hits. I'll be looking at your camera's to see what kind of weather you get hit with from Sandy. Hope it just passes you by w/no problems and everyone else also!
So lucky you have pretty lilies still in bloom.

Wonder why this post is not coming up on my "favorites" ... somehow it no longer was favorited! It is now though. Looking great, Addy! You never cease to amaze me at the amount of work you do to create new projects. I'm glad you stopped for the pic of the new propane tank. That stone dust is new to me, too! Great idea, though, and looks like it did a super job at leveling that tank.
I never did get a King of Siam bloom, although at one point just a couple of weeks ago, there were 3 buds under the surface. I was going to pull them this weekend, but may leave them a while longer. Removed the dead leaves/stems when I was in the pond on Thurs., before the temps dropped so drastically. Only 34 this morning, so will be doing fall stuff this weekend.

So far nothing Colleen, it has been delayed until tomorrow, the rain that is, sandy is supposed to hit starting monday, if it does not move north or south, you never know.

Dry and warm today.

Both purples have been blooming great. I groomed the hardies, two days go, now they are growing more leaves and sending up buds, pond went up to 63 degrees.
I am beat, hands hurt from all the abuse they have been through. But we are as ready as we can be for a bad storm.

Here is the "new" 1k pond dug in. I filled in the dirt around the pond, hopefully banked it correctly so all that mud does not flow into the big pond. Got my umbrella and shovel ready if I goofed.

Still lots of work to do, depends on the weather and my desire, it might get done next spring.

bermed the lower edge, with a slope heading towards the bog and down the hill towards the back field. Wanted it packed with dirt for the insulation factor. It has all the big pond lilies in it now for the winter, no fish. A test , if we have a cold winter, as too how deep it will freeze.

The propane tank is dug in and roughly smoothed out, lots of rock to pick up, ground to smooth, seed to plant for next year.

You are one hard working woman, Addy! It all look VERY good, and very finished. I know you are anxious to get it totally completed, things planted around the new pond, and grass planted around that tank, but remember that you did all of this on your own, which is amazing, tractor or no tractor! I'm super impressed!

Wishing you all the good luck I can send! Hopefully Sandy doesn't dump near the rain or damage that Issac hit us with. Having a storm hit in the middle of summer was bad enough, Being hit by a storm this size and then getting hit with snow is unimagable. Or at least it isn't for us this far south. lol It's looking really nice, Hopefully the rain isn't too bad, I think I would be worried about mud getting in the big pond as well. We finally got our first really cool weather of the season the weekend. A brisky 47 this morning. But already back in the low 70's today. Really a nice day, Good luck with the storm, Will have everyone in our thoughts and prayers up in the Frankinstorm area.

Fine work Addy. You have a great many talents. You should be a garden or landscape designer. To avoid mud running into your big pond here are a number of suggestions or combination thereof.

- soy winter grass on the slopes
- cover the soil with weed fabric
- install a temporary barrier along the area of the big pond threatened by the fresh dirt
- temporarily place gravel on the soil

Good luck

Looks great addy and hoping all the rain if it comes will go the way it's supposed to when falling near your new pond project!
Didn't get to look at your camera again today as went woodcutting again. Too dark now of course! Tomorrow I will look for sure cuz I think rain is coming back again.

Well spring is here and the new to be shubbie tank has not been touched since I planted it last fall. Life took over, we have been gone more than we have been home.

We started plumbing it yesterday. A T off the main pond line, before the bog, with a ball valve to control the flow. I decided to have a 55 gallon barrel filter type system before the shubbie tank since the water entering would be "dirty" water from the big pond.

The water will go into the "filter" then waterfall into the tank, the tank will then waterfall into the big pond. Need rocks, more dirt (have a pile of dirt to move) plants time. The big pond lilies spent the winter in the tank, I need to pull them out and put them into the big pond again. With some grooming, add some fertilizer, leave a few in the subbie tank. Need to net the bottom, a bunch of dead leaves in it. Then once a tiny warmer put the fish outside. They have overgrown the 55 gallon tank in the house.

Good job addy and looks like hard labor. Take it easy now and don't over do it! I'm gonna take a peek on your camera feed to see if I can see it in real life.

It is a dragon pump, made for koi ponds, good on the electric bill, 6000 some gallons an hour. I had it shipped from my arizona pond when I tore it down. We have two of them, one on standby if the other breaks.

I use two inch piping to decrease the water restriction, we put in a ball valve to control the flow into the new shubbie tank. Slowly getting it plumbed. Still have work to do. I can't do much, way to tired I sit and watch honey run the pipes for me more than do anything.
