Addy -- Started looking at your "build" thread, but finally had to fast-forward to the present :) All I can say is, "WOW!" I'm just getting started in ponding (true newbie) -- your work is truly an inspiration!

So far, in all the work I've done on and perfecting my box turtle habitat, I have to say that the planning & actual construction have been the most fun parts. Well, like you, except for the heat & humidity! And now I have to impatiently wait out winter. If I had enough room & resources, it would always be a work in progress ;)! At least adding a pond will give me MORE WORK TO DO!!!

I smiled at the Kubota present! My hubby knows me well enough to know that HOME DEPOT (etc) is one of my fav stores -- I think I have more tools than he does! LOL!!

Sorry if I got a little off-topic! But I just love this forum!

Thanks mmathis! it was a project, still have some stuff to do. Enjoyed planning, digging, building (well to a point lol) The slope we gave was a killer to work with, but I think it turned out nice.

In my move across country, moved more tools than anything else, home depot, lowes, harbor freight, tractor supply, they are like candy stores to me lol

Honey keeps saying build another, I keep saying no ................. but you never know we do have a lot of land, and I have 4 great pond pumps 3 not in use........hummmmmmmmm lol

Keep your planning going, you will end up with a great finished project.

Good idea about building that bog rock wall thingy with waterfall foam glue to prevent stuff get'n into the rocks.

I have started to rebuilding my rock walls in my pond with the waterfall foam glue stuff and I already went through a few tubes. Ugh, gonna have to buy quite a few more.

My whole build was based on ease of care, plants and fish. One thing I made sure we had was the skimmer and boy is it a blessing right now, apple flowers are falling like snow and the maple is sending out those helicopter seeds, the skimmer nicely draws in most of them.

I have almost finished rebuilding the top pond in the stream, made it deeper and wider, since my honey suggested and we built the deck pond. Need the splash area for the 4 foot water fall off the deck. No fish in this pond, just a few plants, frogs and some tads. I added some more rocks to the first stream leg to help make it deeper, used a can of foam to make the water go over those rocks. It does seep out, the top pond water depth drops by about 2 inches when the stream is not running. But it does seep down the stream not out of the pond.

The bog is growing like crazy, love the blue forgetmenots. They bloom all summer. Next to open will be the marsh betony and obedience plants, purple flowers on spikes all summer. Then the lilies, bright double orange and some constant rebloomers, yellow. The water willow is beginning to grow, it will have white flowers on it for the summer. Mixed in is some spider wort, brilliant purple flower, blooms all summer.

Some of my flowers have a pink tinge to them, maybe it is the soil ph, type of soil etc. There are plants that have different colors of flowers based on soil ph.

Your bog looks great.

Thanks tmann, it is really doing well this year, more fish poop and warm winter. All the plants in it survive solid frozen pea gravel.

The yard is really starting to color up, love the view down to the pond

While putting in some path plants, found these two............left their homes alone
I can't recall where, but in some thread there was talk of wolf spiders carrying their egg sacs, here are two of them doing that. The one I could not catch except the front legs. After they hatch, the spider will carry the young on its back.
The white is the egg sac.

Looks wonderful Addy. Your bog was one of the reasons I put a bog in and am so glad that I did.
