Pond update… Everything is coming along minnows and frogs are reproducing like crazy and even have a croppie in there too!!

Planting around the pond is fun but the most fun is watching the kids play.

I’m in the process of adding a bog and a waterfall to the pond. I didn’t realize how much work this was going to be but it’s going well so far still a ways to go. Here are some progress pics of the bog. The bog will be above the pond and the waterfall will flow down next to my current waterfall to a dead spot in the pond. I’ll need to seam the two together.

I’ve dug out 2feet of dirt, I’ll need to create a small retaining wall for a part of the bog. I’m going to make the bog 18” deep. Pump water from the pond into a 10” dual walled culvert and connect it to the same thing that will run vertical for my”pump vault”. I’ve got larger cobble to cover it with then I’ll add a layer of smaller on top and even smaller on top of that. The liner will be seam taped to the existing pond with at least a 6” overlap and a slight downward pitch to it. The waterfall will most likely slightly wind and have 2 to 3 drops before it ends up in the pond. Wish me luck! Open to any and all advice along the way!!

Thanks!! I have so much I want to do with it but baby steps every year.

I probably just wrote that wrong. Going to buy a 20ft section of culvert half it for the centipede and then use a section of it for the snorkel. There will be no pump vault.

Do you know how long you can make centipedes? I’m looking at about 12feet. I know aquascape sells them in about 5.5ft sections.

Culvert I’m looking at is a 10” diameter 20ft long I’ll cut it down to size to fit the bog space.

I used a double walled. Culvert plastic pope with my bog. / wetland filter and then cut wide slits on the inner ribbon it worked well but I did have the 24 inch pipe

Make the bog as big as you can
Thanks I definitely will! I’m going with the 10” diameter double walled as it should be plenty wide enough to drop a sump pump down for clean outs. Menards sells the 8,10 or 12”. I don’t really want to get too much wider than that.

i would suggest the 12 many of these pumps are a good 8 to 9 inches wide add a flex pvc and 10 could be tight.
