It seemed to me that water did not follow the laws of physics in my bog. How could the water level be HIGHER at one end for a continuous liquid? But my husband who actually understands physics said it does make sense to him.

This has been my biggest bog lesson. That water can overflow the back or sides EVEN if the out flow is lower than the edges.

Yes you will need to trim back plants, make little streams, and even remove gravel as the roots push it up over time.

One of the things I have done is cut back plants and roots around the edges from time to time. Since that area is easiest for me to reach.

i have reverted to using the weed whacker to cut the plants in the bog. i went from hours worth of work to less than a half hour. Mind you more than 75 percent of my bog has rock above the water level. Once everything is cut i then use a leaf blower to clean out the bog. one reason i believe you may see the water over flowing the back even though the weir is lower is it may not be wide enough to accommodate the amount of water thats being pushed through, or the good old fashioned wicking

Thanks!! I’ll increase the flow to the T I have set up to the waterfall portion. This will decrease the flow to the bottom of the bog.
