Ok, I've got some photos from Point Beach State Forest. It was my first time camping there in about a year and a half. The park had some minor construction and repaves so it had been closed for camping last fall and this spring. So glad I finally got back.
Rawley Point Lighthouse. Those of you who have seen my past posts probably remember it. I photograph it every time I'm there.
Grover/Smith Cabin. Built in 1929 and restored in the early 2000's.
Molash Creek, where it meets Lake Michigan. It was just about 20 feet short of reaching the lake this year. Every year this creek looks different. Sometimes it flows into the lake sometimes it's blocked by sand.
There's one campsite in the campground that has an old pumphouse in it. This year, I was in that site. There's almost no information about the building online, other than it being built in 1941. It's still actively used today.
Usually this time of year it's cloudy and cold, but this year the weather has been incredibly warm. Most of my trip was in the 60's and 70's. And most of the time had clear skies, which was great for looking at the stars. I saw the Milky Way for the first time in five years. Just incredible!
Unexpectedly, I was able to see the comet again! I haven't been able to see it at home since last Tuesday, but because of the lack of light pollution in the forest, it could be seen again. Can't wait to see it again in 80,000 years!
Also got to see the moonrise over the lake a few times.
The fall color was fantastic. It seems like this is a GREAT year for fall colors. I wish I could have gotten out to enjoy it a bit more, but I took full advantage while camping.
