Most of the time I get really lucky with weather. Tuesday wasn't the greatest. I had just gotten there and set up and the rain started rolling in. Once it started, it rained until 10pm. But I still ended up hiking in the rain once the storm threat was gone. Wednesday/Thursday was fantastic!

Sad year this year, no butterflies, no gold finches, usually tons of them.

I wonder if that bad drought we had last year caused this .

This year wet, just had tornadoes all around us, count of 4.

Flowers blooming, nothing, butterfly wise.

We are finally getting a few butterflies. Veggie garden went wild after this last rain.
Addy-would love to send you some gold finches. We have one male that has been tormenting our cats by hovering in front of the window and pecking at the glass to get their attention

I haven't seen one butterfly yet here. I am seeing the hummers at my feeder tho. No dragon flies either. The goldfinch is our state bird and we see some of those now and then. I am seeing more deer this year then usual on our property and while I am out walking or riding my bicycle. Lots of rabbits and a few squirrels. Used to have a little chipmunk but no more now. I don't hear many coyotes yowling at night either.

It's been a great butterfly year for me. Hoping it continues through the summer. The last two or three years weren't so good.

Saw two question mark butterflies and a common buckeye today. Common buckeyes are one of my favorite butterflies, but they've only been seen in my garden maybe three times.

Wow! What incredible colors, and wonderful pictures capturing everything.

I can't wait to see it in a week or two when more gray-headed coneflowers are open! It's going to transition to a lot of yellow throughout the summer. Problem is, they haven't kept up on mowing the trail so far this year, so I might not get more than a peak at it if they don't mow soon.

Seems to have been a fruitful season for the deer here too 🦌🦌🦌
this morning so far...
One of the does that has been sampling the deer chow brought her kids along. Not sure they could be ANY cuter.

Then as soon as the deer left this one arrived...

I think she likes to unwind before bed by watching the pond. Eventually she made a feeble attempt to catch our giant bullfrog, but it dove beneath the lilies just in time.
