Cicada free here. The tree frogs and Toads make up for the noise, though.

Visited River Bend Nature Center yesterday.

I've never seen their prairie in full bloom, so it was a nice surprise!

...and last night's orange moon due to the wildfire smoke.

One of my worst memories from long ago was stepping on a big giant slug in my bare feet!

I have seen the size of the slugs you get out in the howe rainforest very impressive. My worst yeah really shouldn't have stepped there moments is a toss up between three times cant deside which was the worst. The 18 inch squegee that came up and slaped me in the side of the head splitting my tooth i passed out and woke with my face stuck in the water based urethane i had been installing to a new hardwood floor.
Or the yellow jacket hive i stepped in and twisted my ankle to wear i could barely run of corse it had to be my right foot hoping on my left is like watching a drunk walk a straight line it just doesn't work well .
Or was it the 30 penny 1800 home i was working on when i jumped off the ladder the last 3 steps and landed right on that mother of a nail that came all the way through my foot. Worst part wasnt the fact it was still in a 2x8 about 10 feet long trying to get that off was rough it was the tetanus shots and the draining required a few days latter.

Unfortunately, I really missed out on a lot of hiking over the past two months. Finally got out today and it was great. Autumn colors are weeks ahead of normal. I'll post all of my photos tomorrow.
