@callingcolleen1 I can't seem to view your video :( I've tried five times and it stops.
I had some trouble viewing from my cell phone too. Played fine late last night on my Smart TV. I think its cause too many people viewing this video at once?. Seems to have lots of views for the short time its been out. I am starting to get popular on UTube....

Last month I made 166 dollars on my U tube Channel. I get paid now fairly regular, and some of my videos are very popular, with my most viewed video now has over 6 hundred Thousand views. (3/4 of a millon views on my short video "Guppies Outside and alive in November" People tell me I should be very popular cause I do things differently (in a good way as one commenter put it.) I should work more on my utube channel and learn how to edit my clip pictures to my videos. I have to thank all my viewers who watch my videos and this forum as well.
I am just thankful to have everybody here on this forum. We are all valuable members and I treasure all of you even if we don't always agree. I know I sometimes speak my mind and may offend some, so please forgive me and I still treasure you all cause we are just like one big happy fish family :)

Still can't view it :( On the "red line" that shows the progression of the video, there is a yellow block a few seconds into it and that's where it stops. I'm viewing from my laptop, as I usually do. Perhaps I'll hop over to YouTube late and see if I can see it there :)

You might check and see if you have the latest version of flash player but then I don't get why it would play for a little bit and then stop at some kind of yellow block.

U tube is just a wealth of information, and people from around the world are now starting to leave their ponds run all winter, as it is really just the best way to keep big koi alive and well in harsh winter conditions. Its funny, because back a few short years ago, pumps were commonly shut down for the winter and most experts were just recommending a heater and aerator (bubblier/air pump} or many just moved the koi indoors for the winter.
Back then it was hard to just convince many that koi could winter in ponds just fine, and on some koi sites just mentioning that koi do well in "ice cold running water" was considered "outrageous" and "unsafe" .

Advice is changing and now lots of people are leaving their pumps run, if possible

Running a pump is really the best way to get oxygen to your koi during extreme winter. The trouble with a aerator is that they usually are frozen off after the temps drop below -25 Celsius (-13 Fahrenheit) (subject to variables in pump PSI pressure and outside temps) so some aerator's (air pumps) may freeze off sooner or later but they all seem to freeze off during extremely cold winters when temps fall below -30 Celsius (-22 Fahrenheit) Many people I know in this town were shocked that I could leave my big koi outside and have them do so well in our very extreme winters. Everybody used a pond heater and a aerator and many now gave up here as most of their koi are now dead. While some people do not get long cold winters are fine with just an aerator or air pump, beware if you are already getting winters close to -20 Celsius now, it could get even colder even if your area is not likely, check old weather records to be sure, as sometimes a historic weather event could happen and catch one off guard.

Now this poor guy unplugged his pump and that waterfall looks like the water overflowed the fall and pond. With no moving water and a frozen solid pond, fish may all be dead as entire pond appears to be frozen solid and there won't be much alive under that ice... Not what you want to see. A heater would have helped this guy run his pump and prevent the pond from freezing solid. That waterfall is not the best for running in winter that is for sure.

My pump runs 24/7 all year long. I don't have Koi, just goldfish and they do just fine whenever it gets any kind of cold. We have had -6f temps here and pond will freeze over then except where the falls hit the surface and still they do fine. Not the cold you all get East and North of us but still cold. The aerator is turned off till Spring except for one tiny aquarium one that spits a few bubbles up in one little spot.

@CE runs a pump in her pond ro keep a hole open and rarely uses a heater and her fish are fine. I think she suspends it so its not at the bottom of pond and then she said it does not get the leaves and stuff sucked into pump that way. Most of us already have spare old pumps laying around that we could use to keep pond open. Some people use pump combined other methods as well just so the koi do not run out of oxygen. We have to tell people and help them winter their fish and we want to give them the best possble options and warn them about aerators as they fail to work sometimes when the line condensates and freezes. Using a back up pump and filter will greatly help the fish should extreme weather hit your area. It seems the weather around the globe is becoming extreme due to this "Grand Solar Minimum" The sun is moving further away from earth as our earth moves in an elliptical pattern and not a round circle. This happens to earth every once and a while and we get mini ice ages and cooler more extreme weather.

WOW Ice is almost all gone off bottom pond and its only barely above freezing! Raising the water level to above the ice melts that ice quick in the bottom pond. I have a new guy commenting from Calgary on my U tube channel, he wants to try this and get rid of his pond ice too, and He said he has hoop house over his ponds as well!

LOOK Fish are waking up and exploring the ponds again just tonight, now that spinning balls again in the Ice Cold Water!!!
