I can hardly wait to see the pictures! I tried to cheat and use google earth for my picture but it just looks like a dark blob and you can't really see anything. Has anyone else used google earth to view their pond?

I got to go trim some tree branches first, wind was bad last night, when I'm up the ladder I'm get "snap happy" and see if I can get a nice shot.

There was really weird weather here again last night, this place about 75 miles from here called Rolling Hills has "instant lakes" that never were there before!!! AND there was tornados all over, one in Taber, some in the Cypress Hills, one in Rolling hills and a couple by Brooks. (All southern Alberta where I live!) Where I work (Super Store... Bakery) the trucks from Calgary were late and someone said it was a WHITE OUT and the big grocery trucks were eight hours late, and I said What do you mean a White OUT? How? Thinking they meant snow.... they said there was so much WATER falling down no one could see to drive the trucks!!!
My husband just got home and told me about these massive new "lakes" that just showed up around Tllley and Rolling Hills, and got sent home cause no one can get out to work!!!! Well its nice to have have my sweet pea home so I got to go now.... and pretend to feed him, ha ha ha!

Oh ya had to "comfort Poppy" again last night, weather and all......

Ok I cheated and found out that if I went upstairs and leaned way out the window I could get a fairly decent shot or two. Top one I zoomed in and the bottom one not so much. While up there I took a few of the area............got carried away, lol!

Tmann, I was kinda of thinking that too because it would be interesting to see everyone's pond from higher up. Lets do our little competition here first and then one of us can always start a new thread. JW Those are great photos!!! I don't think leaning out of a window is cheating. There really are no ground rules, just taking a picture from above the pond. I have seen pictures of your pond, but from above gives me a new appreciation. Also the grounds around your house are really nice. Makes me think I need to move to WA. It's really pretty and the mountains in the background are great. Colleen, Glad everyone by you is okay. I think this year the weather has had some extremes that we have never seen before pretty much everywhere. I know it's been that way here. It was not a typical Chicago winter. Hardly any snow and then we had over a weeks worth of 80 degree temps in March!

JW, boy that is sure some big "space" you got, puppies could run and run and run ..... Looks real good, must be nice way up there, are you up in the mountains?

At risk of life and limb, AND in the wind, here's what I got.... oh and am I ever mad, big wind last night blew the Yellow flag that just about to bloom, over on one side, the other side still looks good, take a look!

Couldn't get a picture of all three cause their was a bush in the way.

If you love rain and green then this is the place for you Keith otherwise enjoy your nice warm summers where you are cuz it ain't happening here!

We are considered in the foothills of the mountains and not very high here, only about 300ft above sea level. There are hills all around us. Colleen we only have an acre here but that's plenty for us. Wish tho it was more trees than grass to mow.
You have lots of ponds strung together it looks like. Really cool! Love all your plants!

JW, those evergreens in your yard are so unique, and the ones that are "manicured" by your driveway, wow, how long does that take? Someone has a really good eye for uniformity! They are outstanding! And, whose idea was it for the curvy lines by your little shed? Love it!!! I'm a curvy line person, too, although my sidewalk is straight, everything else around here is curved. No inside corners, my big mower can't get there, so I make outside curves instead. :)
Colleen, your koi are so HUGE! Love all your plants and stones and your heron! I still have never found one. Now I'm collecting solar LED lights that are "pond related". Found a cattail one at Menards, they also have a dragonfly fancy one but will wait for it to go on sale. LOL

I like the idea and love the pics, but be safe everyone! lol will try to see what I can do as time permits, get on the roof every year to put the christmas lights up and usually walk to the side that faces the back yard to look over that and the neighborhood. will try to get up there early and take pics of the backyard. keith I've used google maps to see my house and its pretty creepy thinking anyone can do that, but at least the pics were a few years old. haven't tried google earth i think. just be patient patti, they should go onsale! I like the idea you have though! jw...i think i would love the pacific northwest!

I'll get "right on that", tree climbed yesterday, spiders fell out of my hair, husband complained about "spider" on his chair at kitchen table. Had to climb trees with big latter to trim them, made fire to try to burn the twigs and branches. Thanks Keith for getting "me" up in the trees, had to be trimed. Was little worried about falling out of tree, but for some reason I fell, not out of tree or latter, but out f bed at 430 am this morning!!!! How weird is that!!! Never got hurt, husband asked what I was doing on floor, said I fell, never asked if I was OK, just said "he was worried if I landed on "Poppy"!!! it's always about our "Poppy" lord forbid something happened to her!!! Or Bear, he's big, gives me big Bear Hugs, ha ha ha. We love out "puppies"!

CE those trees on the road are "Emerald Green" Arborvitae trees and all we do is top them a little in the winter each year or so. No side trimming. We have just as many on the other side of our driveway, in total about 40 of them! Putting them in was not much fun 12 yrs ago. DH and I did it together and lets just say we weren't in harmony during that job, lol! We put them in for privacy as their are 4 houses right smack dab across the road from us all staring in our direction. I put all the garden beds in and I too like the curvy look but sometimes if ya don't make the curves stretch out long enough in the turns it can be a bugger to mow..............have to back up turn the wheel careful not to run over the plants kind of deal. Live and learn!

Herz like I've said before..........you better love rain to move here! Real green and pretty but wet, wet, wet!

Colleen you are funny.................fell out of bed and no one cares.............Ok then........Are you ok?...........see I care...........but hope the pups are not hurt, lol!

Just rolled out in my sleep, was not hurt, thank goodness I never squished my little Poppy or Bear! I'm sure my husband cares too, we just joke about everything... he must have pushed me off the bed, yes, that's what must have happened! Nothing to do with my "tossing and turning" all night! Ha ha ha :) :) :)

Just be glad you don't sleep walk. My son used to do that but not often when he was young. Kind of scary. He came out one night when DH and I were still up watching t.v and he was about 7 I'd say and went into the kitchen and open a bottom drawer and was rummaging around in there and we asked him what he was doing and he said he was looking for his bible, then he went back to bed.
Once when DH and I were pretty young and I was still into enjoying the drink a bit too much I sat up in bed............so my DH says.........and I yelled "Where's the beer?"lol!

Herz, re google maps. A few years ago we hired a company to clean out our gutters. Turns out they are headquartered in New Jersey and the searched our house on the internet and gave us a price over the phone. yes, everyone be safe including you Colleen! Climbing a tree is definitely out for you if you are falling out of bed. I have to figure out when to do it this weekend when my wife is not around. She already thinks I'm nuts with this pond thing. Great story JW. I like beer too, but haven't done that yet! i can see another new thread coming.... What ponders do in their sleep ie. yelling for beer, falling on dogs and who know what else!
