Addy it's going to live there for as long as I live in this house and might have to make a contract w/ any people who buy this place that it always remains in that spot!

Great tree pictures! I have seen the Giant Sequoias in California and also the redwoods in Vancouver that are also really huge. They are really amazing. Here are some pics of my waterfall with the 900 max-flo Laguna pump I put in yesterday. So now there are two pumps feeding it. The one through the bio-filter and the new one.

Tmann, great info. I was thinking of re-potting mine to help it grow, but maybe I should rethink that and try to keep it stunted. It has a pretty heavy root system that sticks out of the bottom of the pot by about 10 inches. CE we both have pond cypress which is a much smaller tree than the bald cypress. The problem with mine is its always falling over so yesterday I loaded up the pot with pea gravel and moved it so it doesn't catch as much wind. People always ask me how I have a tree in my pond. I think they think it goes into the ground! I looked up the dawn redwood. It looks like it could be another good pond tree. Tmann do you have a picture of your dawn redwood?
The reason I repotted mine was b/c it was falling over. I repotted it and used clay from my yard as the soil and it has not fallen over since. I get a ton of wind up here, it is always windy and has been good. I have not removed the tree in several years so not sure if the roots are growing along the bottom of the pond through the holes of the container but can't seem them and my water is pretty darn clear. I would say repot it one size up maybe two. Is it in a two gallon pot now?

Wow, that is one huge (going to be) tree, JW!
Keith, love your new extra water flow in your waterfall. And, your pond is so clear and sparkling. Your fish are gorgeous! I have a goldfish that looks like a twin to the one toward the center of the second picture. :) Love the long flowy tails.

I found a pic of my tree when it was small. This was taken about 6 or 7 years ago. I don't have this small pond anymore.

Teensy little guy way back then. Has grown a lot since then. How big will it get in your pond I wonder? Will you ever take it out and plant it in the soil?

Wow, Todd, that picture looks far different than your current pics. You literally have ponds and streams everywhere! I don't remember seeing a pic from that perspective. I need to check out your pic thread of your pond. Can you post the name and what forum it's under? I'd like to scan through the pictures. :)

Colleen, yes the thread is getting interesting because of all the good info other people are posting. This week has been pretty hectic. Our youngest daughter graduated from HS the other night and one of our other daughters is visiting from DC. Colleen feel free to throw more stuff in. It was fun when we were inadvertently sharing the thread for a week or so. Your thread has a huge amount of hits for such a short time. That's pretty cool.
Tmann That's a really neat pond. I have seen your recent pond photos and your pond is really amazing. Yours is the one with the granite slabs in the waterfall? Also that was a really neat link to buy the trees you suggested. It's hard to believe that seedlings of these really interesting trees are available to purchase. It really makes you think when you can get a seedling of a tree that can last 800 years.... or at least makes you think where to plant it! It would be great if you could post some new pictures of your pond here so we can see the changes and how the tree has grown. My pond cypress is in a very small container. I should probably replant it but there is a big root system sticking out of the bottom into the water. As long as it's happy shouldn't I leave it alone?
Thanks icsd71. I appreciate the compliment. My pond started as a $150 kit and I have kept improving it. I don't think there are any original parts from the kit still left now.
J.W I tried to make my tree look really big like I was looking down through a forest and then decided I wouldn't fool anyone!
CE, Thanks. The waterfall now actually makes a lot of noise for a small pond. Living in Mayberry here, the police are always checking on anything that would disturb anyone and I hope no one complains. Maybe I should hook up a timer and just let it run during the day. However I don't think it makes more noise than a barking dog at 6:00 AM or people mowing their lawns when you are trying to relax in your backyard. Re dogs: I hope your puppies are doing well. The sarasa fish you mentioned that is similar to yours is my oldest fish. It has survived through several disease outbreaks in the pond and I am pretty attached to him. Also he is the most aggressive male in the pond and does not stop chasing the ladies for a minute!

Haha, I know what you mean, CK, about the aggressive males! The fish I got from Pond Kid are that way, I think I remember that there are 3 females and 3 males. My other fish are slightly smaller and much smaller, and the big ones are the chasers and spawners. However, I got my female "Red Lips" into the goldfish pond over a month ago, and she has spawned in there, too, and now Shubie is in there, also a female. Not seen her spawn, so likely spawned in the koi pond. There always seems to be a thread opening up someone worried about the crazy males chasing those females! I would guess that's how my large goldfish and Asagi koi got into the hyacinth net, trying to escape. The big yellow koi is definitely a female, and she was in the net for over a week before I realized it, then moved the net and found her. She was doing a good (bad?) job of eating roots as the hyacinth in that net are still looking poorly. :)
Hyacinths in the goldfish pond, without a net, are doing super, though, so obviously the goldfish do not gobble the roots like the koi.
