Good to hear you have controlled the beastly Parrots Feather @CometKeith . I love the way mine grows but I have it contained somewhat in a container of kitty litter.

I do have some on the opposite side of the pond that is in a container also but it seems to grow more sprawling than the other kind. Must be two different species.
JW. Yours looks really nice. I was getting over half my pond covered with plants so I had to do something. Here are a few pics I took today. It still feels like summer but I hear colder weather will be here by the weekend. I just switched to cold weather fish food the other day. The second pic is a view from the bog towards the main part of the pond.

Thanks Tula. I know I needed to add more gravel because I think it got compacted especially after our tenant’s mother over the summer tripped and fell in the bog! They had to pick out broken pieces of her wine glass from it. Fortunately she was okay. I took another picture this morning. They were waiting to get fed and pretty active! Yes it was so easy taking care of them this year. I had one goldfish with a swim bladder problem otherwise everything else was excellent with about 10 Koi and 40-50 goldfish.
So tomorrow will be a sad day for us. Our oldest daughter and son in law are moving with our two grandkids to Florida. Now we will have children and grandchildren
spread all over the country and we will be in the middle! Oh and we are not planning on moving anywhere anytime soon!

Looks beautiful. Couldn't tell where the bog is though. Also, how big is the pond?

Thanks. So the lilies are in the pond and everything before that is the bog. I guess my bog is about 3 feet wide at that point but the bog plants drape over the dividing wall so it looks much larger. I actually built my bog inside my pond. because I was under strict orders not to make the pond any larger by my wife. Lol. I put down a stone wall between the two and put new liner in the bog. It was all done “wet” as I only partially drained the pond and left the fish in when I built the dividing wall. The pond is about 12x8 and the bog is about 6 x3 and the same depth as the pond which is 42 inches. The whole pond and bog holds about 3000 gallons. I’m constantly pulling plants out of the bog otherwise it would be totally out of control! Because the bog is so deep it needs a pretty powerful pump. The one I’m using now is only half as strong as the pump I tried earlier in the summer. I was using 3600 GPF. I need to change the exterior piping from flexible to a hard pipe to be able to properly connect the better pump. I also use a bead filter for the pond as well. It has separate piping and does not run through the bog.

Thanks. All the pretty flowers are actually impatiens. If you put their roots in some rocks on the border where they are wet all the time they will thrive in a pond even in hot sun and high temperatures with zero maintenance. Basically I bought just one small flat of them in the spring and all of these grew from those tiny little plants!

Awww, sorry to hear your daughter, SIL and grandchildren are moving to FL. I'm a first time grandparent and have been blessed to to spend the first 10 + weeks of her life with her. Hubby and I are driving them back to NJ the first part of Nov.......I think I'll need a big box of tissues for the drive home to OH :(

Thanks Tula. Congrats on your grandchild! We have three now. The three year old boy slept over almost every Friday night and we would do things with him on Saturday’s so it will be especially hard. No more feeding the fish together for a long time…. On the bright side we just planned to go there for a week over Thanksgiving. Our daughter who lives in Ca is going too so it should be nice.
