I'm like you @CometKeith - still haven't finished everything I need to do for winter. We're at the tail end of a whole house renovation, which has made the garage inaccessible for about 5 months. Not being able to get to things I need and put things away for winter has really put a crimp in my fall clean up. And now this early cold spell and SNOW - what the heck with THAT?? - has created some issues. Hopefully we'll have a warm Thanksgiving weekend so I can get a few more things done before winter really sets in here! I still need to pull the pump out of the pondless waterfall and clean some plants out of the bog. Let's hope nature plays nice!

We've had some cold but nothing drastic so I have left my pot filter running for now on the edge of the pond. All else is ready for Old Man Winter if he really decides to show himself this year. Some years we have nice mild ones, some can give us a big surprise of frigid cold but not usually for too long. So if it starts to look like we are going to get super chilled then I will stop the pot filter and put it away. I just figured the more filtering the merrier

My family and I are spending Thanksgiving week in Oregon. We have been seeing some sights and doing a little hiking and other activities. Its really beautiful. Tonight we are staying at Mount Hood. This is a picture of I took today of Multnomah Falls. It's a 620 ft high waterfall! We actually stood on that little bridge that looks to be about half way up!

I have a photo of those Falls on my wall. Beautiful place!
Thank you!
Beautiful! Great shot and happy you are enjoying your trip!
Thank you.
We enjoyed hiking those same woods and seeing those falls - gorgeous ! That region of the country is majestic and beautiful !
It's really nice. I never have been to Oregon before and am enjoying it.

Today we drove through Astoria and stayed at Cannon Beach. The rocks were pretty amazing!

With an hours drive east, you can be in amazing forests of towering pines and gorgeous waterfalls. An hour west and you can meander along coastal villages and spend time on the beach.

I told my hubby, if it weren't so darn far from both our families, I could live there !

Thank you for sharing your traveling experiences @CometKeith , must have been amazing being at those Falls!

@Tula , the way you described those places made me really want to go
Thanks. Gemma, It's been a very nice trip. Yesterday we walked along the coast and saw sea lions. Also we went to a spot for whale watching, stopped at a vineyard for a wine tasting and lunch nearby and later on ended up in Portland! We actually drove past a Koi dealer but I had transferred over the driving and my daughter drove by it:(

Guess it was an old elevator not stairs that they used to have. Now they have a brand new fancy elevator.

Wow @CometKeith you are getting closer to where we live! Did you go down to the Sea Lion caves just south of Newport near Florence? It's at a lighthouse gift shop and you go down stairs to see them all over the rocks in the cave.

Hi JW. the furthest south we went was Depoe Bay where we whale watched (no whales that day) and had some great smoked salmon and steelhead. hmmm... I miss that trip. We had a lot of fun and it was cool seeing new places. We are planning a trip in the spring to SE Asia. It's going to be a lot of logistics and are trying to decide if we want to hire a travel agent to plan how how we will be getting around.
My friend she was doing you a favor lol it would've led to you wanting fish you wouldn't be able to transport properly or acclimate to your weather to survive winter
Nathan. That is no fun at all! I'm constantly thinking of buying another Koi. So far all my fish in the winter seem to be happy including the two Koi I bought this year. I have one water pump spraying from a rock, an air pump, and my breather all going at once. So far everything has worked well even when the temps dipped into the teens about ten days ago.
