We dropped to 30 here, the pond dropped to 50 from 58 yesterday. Still see the fish swimming around and snacking on plants. The pump is being pulled next week, pond shut down.

Any update? Hope they just dove deep with colder temps.
Hope they turn up Keith and maybe just chilly and hunkering down deeper.

I hope your fish are still all fine! :)
Thanks all! I think they are all there. They are just a lot lower and hiding in the plants. Also they seem to want to stay where the water is not moving around as much. Maybe the slower moving water is warmer? My wife asked if I was feeding them and when i said no she said they have no interest in being by the top of the pond anymore. I think she is right!

Glad to hear they're fine and am anxious to hear about your new koi :)
Hi Tula. It's the same two koi I got a few months ago. I wish I got a new Koi :(
It was Nathan's idea to get some smaller ones this year and see how they acclimate to the winter because the ones I had last year did not do well. I did get a pond breather halfway through the winter so hopefully that will make a difference.

I hope it works out! Thinking they’re younger & able to acclimate better. Also you’ve had them for a few months so they can get used to the pond/environment before having stress of cold weather.

Well I was totally late to winterize this year. We had a wedding by us last week which took up a lot of time with planning, and family around and everything, and the temps dropped really fast before I had a chance to winterize. I just disconnected my biofilter today because it hit a balmy 41 degrees today and it looks like it has been leaking out of a cleanout nozzle the last few days which is not a good sign, but I had been thinking of upgrading the filter for next year and I think I'll need to do that for sure now. I put in my pond breather today, still have my mini koi airstone going and one pump running to keep water moving.

I have the pond breathers in but not running. We have a light coat of ice, the temps heading back up a bit. If we do a real dive before we head home, which is soon, my neighbor will plug them in for me.
