Yes we put rocks on side. My husband likes the look and says he will clean. Haha. We'll see on that. We didn't put on floor of pond except a few around the tunnel for koi. Still stumped on waterfall and going to do more reading. It seems like water will spill off sides of fall, I guess that is where we use foam or do we push liner up and backfill more with dirt?

You make a trough with the liner so the water flows down and not over the sides. Even a inch or so of extra height will keep the water going the right direction.

Rebel we got a black tote and are trying to use it for weir. Where does all the extra liner go? We had so much extra at that end that we cut off a 3 ft piece and still have about 6 more feet that would cover our tank.

Sounds like you will need to get rid of that extra liner, but FIRST, decide if you might possibly want your waterfall to extend a little bit farther back. If that's a possibility, then keep the liner for now, fold and tuck it. If you have no room to expand, then probably will need to cut it off. Just make sure you have a good seal of the liner up against your tank, pull it up to below the weir, and you can tack it to the tank or seal it to the tank, just in case any water falls over the edge of the weir. There are times that may happen, for instance if something clogs the weir and the water spills over the edge. Shouldn't ever happen, but I had it almost happen because I put floating plants in the filter tank, and the water was not flowing freely out of the weir.
And, good luck to your hubby with the shelf cleaning. :) It's always worth the trouble to try. Good thing is if he finds it more trouble than he wants to deal with, he can always remove them. :)

Husband looked at several ponds at our local nursery and he loves the look of the rocks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he will be the one who cleans them, but I'm also a realist and know that I may end up doing so also. That's okay, I'll just have to deal with that when the time gets here. We did get the weir secured and applied lots of silicone to seal it. One step at a time. Only being able to work on it, weather permitting, allows lots of time to do more research and read more threads.

Well if you just have them (the rocks) on the sides and not the bottom you can take a hose now and then and run it through the rocks and make the gunk that collects fall towards the bottom and then let the filter suck it up,vacuum or take a net and scoop it out. Might work pretty good!

JW - that sounds like something I will definitely try. I really hope that we will have everything up and running this weekend. We are supposed to have decent weather, in the mid 50s, compared to what we had this past weekend (barely in the 30s), it will feel like a heat wave! :goldfish:

LIKE Hey I found one of those "like" buttons, JW! heehee Your idea of using the pressure from a hose might be just the trick for PL and her hubby in cleaning the rocks and sending dead plant material, and anything else that might gather toward the bottom. Maybe even a high pressure sprayer, if you can turn the pressure down and use it underwater might be the trick!
Yes, more pics soon and video would be great when it's up and running!!! Can't wait .... living through your pond build. :)

Ha Ha CE the funny thing is that the other button would let me do it one time and then it wouldn't and then it would again. I want a refund on my like button or maybe I could use some like's from somebody who isn't using theirs? Hey anybody wanna give me some like's?

That power hose idea thing might be even better CE or you can also put one of those short little squatty nozzles that just have a small hole in them and makes it squirt out more powerful.............know what I mean?

Funny, JW, but I've never been denied my use of Likes. LOL I think you just like so much that the computer has overloaded in the "like" mode and causing you to not be allowed to use them so much. Maybe you have been bad with your "likes" in the past and now you are being disciplined and can only have a couple a day.
