I think we have enough calcium in our well water so that I don't need to take the calcium supplements. I was getting feet cramping every night while watching tv at night. I tried eating bananas, taking Potassium, magnesium and drinking more water, nothing worked so about a month ago I heard something about calcium causing problems w/ cramping. So I decided to stop taking my calcium supplements to see what would happen.
Voila no more foot cramps :)

I still use my pressure cooker for cooking my potatoes for making potato salad and that's about it. It cooks them to the perfect doneness if I set the time just right. I used to use it for making stew all the time but haven't made stew in years for some reason. Mine is a really outdated pressure cooker.

I was growing stevia, but had to cut it down this winter because it became infested with aphids.
It's not a complete replacement for sugar. You can't use it in baking, for example.
I'l get some growing again this summer.

pressure cookers are a PITB to use. but for veggies, is there a better way to cook them, and keep the nutrients?.. ive never used one but i.ve always heard that they're best for veggies. I usually just lightly steam them. enough to heat, not cook!

OH MITCH... Walmarts has a store brand of baking blend of stevia (Great Value brand). Stevia in the raw has one.. there are others. but some are mixed with sugar. some with maltodextrin. which is from corn, so I don't use it cuz most corn is GMO now. all of which are a far cry better than sugar. look for organic Reb A (stevia extract) and organic erythritol....absolutely no effect on blood sugar. a truly healthier mix. this Pyure brand has a perfect taste. if you like cinnamon sugar on toast or whatever, when mixed with cinnamon its even better than sugar...seriously.

Apparently stevia will not act as a food for yeast, but bread doughs will still rise, just not as much.
I have found various charts for swapping stevia for sugar.
Still sounds like it would be worthwhile swapping out stevia for sugar.

I've found a pressure cooker pretty easy to use, with my induction hotplate.
My pressure cooker is a German WMF brand, doesn't have those numerous clamps and dial pressure gauge, just a clip type top and a rubber valve that pops up at the proper pressure.
This one: http://www.hippressurecooking.com/pressure-cooker-review-wmf-perfect-plus-rating/

Very quick and energy efficient cooking, in my opinion.

Actually I was thinking of using stevia for making jam and jelly. That stuff requires a lot of sugar.
I don't use sugar other than baking, otherwise.

I try to avoid breads. especially bleached white flour... white flour is metabolized as a sugar in your body. and most grains have glutens which block the vilia in the intestinal tract. making nutrient absorbtion harder. white potatoes are starches and metabolized as sugar too. sweet potatoes are a slow carb...much better for ya.
as far as pasta..i use brown rice flour pastas... slow carbs, and gluten free.

We use unbleached or whole wheat flour, sweet, yellow or purple potatoes (grow our own when we can) and make our own pasta, tomato sauce and grow our own herbs. We try to have gluten free when we can.
We trust very little that is for sale out there.
For growing herbs, I find that an Aerogarden (hydroponics) works the best.
