Yes!! addy you are smart, most people do not know this, but you would starve without the fat because rabbit is too lean, and without the fat you cannot break down the proteins in the meat and you would get sick with diarrhea and slowly become and emancipated and die. Read that in the survival magazine long long time ago, and never forgot. This is why fat is so important, and choosing lean cuts of meat is not the best, as now published in the the Journal of British medicine, the fat in the steak is the best part, because it contains stearic acid which is extremely beneficial for the heart!!!

Now as reported on the news here the other day, finally they are considering taking the "heart healthy" Margarine off the shelfs cause it is NOT so heart healthy after all!!

Everything was aways A Big FAT LIE!!!!

I know of three people who work where I work, all ladies around my age, 48, who ate margarine and have had a stroke this past year. one works in the deli, she is now back to work but has very dark circles around her eyes, the other works at the front end, she is ok and back to work but looks grey in the face, and the other, who works in the produce section, she is still in the hospital.....

I quit using margarines many many years ago, pure butter only or now coconut oil.
We eat meat, not the best about eating fish. Need to watch sugars for a while, honies sugar reading a little high.

I rarely crave sugar these days, and if I do get a craving for sugar I will eat a kiwi, or orange or a piece of dark choclate. I am careful too with sugar and one orange can really spike your blood sugar. I rarely eat sweets and almost never drink fruit juice, no matter if it is organic and natural, cause it is still sugar. I do love the Christmas oranges tho and eat lots of them with lots of fresh nuts still in the shell. I am still waiting for the stores here to get the fresh nuts in the shells...... :)

I happened to notice yesterday while at work, that most people are now choosing butter over margarines yesterday. The bakery is right next to the butter and margarine. Of course me and my big mouth, I had to ask if they had heard the news about margarine? about half of the people I asked had heard the news, the odd person still bought margarine and said but it was only for cooking (like they cooking means eating it duh!) .... I am sure the margarine sales are down lots after the news. I once had a argument a few years back with a margarine sales person at work, ha ha ha!

Maria, I would never eat rabbit either unless very very hungry, the point was that you need the fat to break down the proteins in the meat. I am on a "facts about fat's kick" these days so don't mind me....
P.S. I used to have pet rabbits years ago too and would never dream of eating one. :)

And butter never tries to be Margarine!!!

And there's no such thing as hydrogenated butter, or Lard!! You can deep fry in real lard (not vegetsble lard) and it will. NEVER become hydrogenated and will NEVER turn to trans fats EVER!!!

If the lard gets dirty or funny taste from say cooking fish in it, you can render it like they did in the old days, add water and boil off till pure again!
