A friend not far from where I live said she heard the peepers today! That means 3 more nights with ice on the puddles and spring will be here. :) Daytime temps are staying above freezing here for the next 10 days at least, although some night time temps going down to 20's and even teens a night or two. Spring IS just around the corner.

Gee, Country... I wonder if you could send me a recording of those peepers? Maybe if I played it here, WE could have spring in three days!? :sneaky:

I had a frog jump into the pond when I walked by! Gone to quick to see what kind it was.

Saw two Green Frogs at the surface of my pond tonight! Glad to see they successfully made it through winter.

Not sure how many I had at the end of last pond season, so I'll never know if they all survived, but I do know I had anywhere from 6-12 Green Frogs and 3 Bull Frogs. Hoping I don't have to net out any bodies this year.

So many pretty frogs here! I've only gotten bullfrogs here so far but they started arriving on Day 2 of adding water!

Some giant ones that I have relocated.

He was hunting this guy who was just off to the right of the last shot

So I caught him the next day

Tadpoles! This was on the rock shelf before we had all the rocks in place, they were quick with the getting busy!

3 frogs and a bunch of tadpoles. Most of the black spots on the flat rock that the lily is on are tadpols and even some hanging out of the wall there.

Now I've seen 8 Green Frogs and two Bull Frogs, including my bird killer. Very possible I've seen more than 8 Greens, but I can only tell when I see them at the same time. They're all about the same size, so it's hard to tell them apart.

They're all over the place tonight. One is currently sitting up on a fence rail. The rest are scattered all around the pond area. It was hard to walk around. Frogs blend in with my mulch at night, and they don't move a muscle even if you step right next to them, so I had to watch every step I took. I think they're enjoying this weather even more than I am!

Neat videos, Addy! I've seen bullfrogs consistently since our temps went back up again about a week and a half ago. Even tonight, with the temps only around 50, there were big bullfrogs on the goldfish pond. The very large bullfrog is in the goldfish pond, and it's far larger than my hand. It usually sits along the edge with me maybe 3' away or less. It saw my friend, and jumped in, but only to a pot that was maybe 2' underwater, and thought it was hidden, although we could see it clearly. She couldn't believe how large it was! This is another Bullfrog on the goldfish pond. Large, but not the XL guy!

Toad I spotted while I was pulling weeds. He/she was all snuggled in that mass of weeds, that I let it stay and weeded somewhere else. :)

This little frog is I think a spring peeper, although I never heard it sing. This guy was in my window well, along with a baby snake (about 10" long) and two cool looking snails! The frog is only about 1" long, at most. And, no, this picture was not taken in black and white mode. This is how drab the area was in the window well. The frog was gray, the snake was gray, and the snails were black with gray shells.

I realize this is a "frogs only" thread, but can anyone tell me what type of snail this is? I've never seen one like this before, and there were two in the window well. I moved the plastic cover to dig up a butterfly bush that grew from seed just inside the cover, and it was actively growing all winter long, never lost it's leaves. Guess it liked the "greenhouse" effect. But, again, the snail ... any idea what type? It's small, only about 1" diameter or less across the shell.

@CountryEscape Loving all of that...XL frog and weeding somewhere else for the toads sake (my family would laugh at me but I'd do the same thing). I never see spring peepers and it was hanging out with an interesting crowd lol. I also never see land snails, just slugs so I have no idea on the snail ID but glad you shared it.

Thanks, MYSWTSINS! I've never seen a land snail like this either, just the slugs like you say. I have the tiny black snails in my ponds, well in the stream and waterfall, as any that get to the pond are "food" as far as the fish are concerned. That's why this snail was neat! And, yeah, I wondered who would survive the window well! Snake was likely too small to eat the frog, but who knows. They all got in there, and pretty sure all of them can get back out, but since there will be food in there for them, I left them for now. Bugs are always in there, so it seems they go there a lot for the bugs.

I believe that's a green frog, faebinder, although colorwise it's more brown. The ridge that goes from his eyes down his back is straight. On a bullfrog, it curves around the "ear" spot on the side of the head.
